About this listen

Villains aren't born, they're made.

Witt was an ordinary NPC - a non-player character in a video game. As a kobold skald, he sang songs to empower heroes before they entered the local dungeons.

Every day was a fresh start. Every day Witt woke with no memory of his previous encounters with all those so-called heroes. And every day he forgot the countless beatings and deaths he took at the hands of the murder hobos he valiantly buffed.

But when all of those memories suddenly come flooding back, he only wants one thing:

Revenge.

First off this free short story did its job well I have just bought more of the authors audiobooks. secondly the story was amazing and I actually had a little think about the way I treat NPCs in these types of games. If you know of epic NPC man then this is a must try book. Could not praise this high enough and hope there will be a part 2 or a follow on.

Amazing

there is nothing special about this book, but it's so much fun even so...

fun

It's a revenge plot which I generally enjoy and has some gruesome elements that are also to my tastes but the whole revenge reason was a bit rushed and from then on I struggled to pay attention and even now I can't quite recall how it ended. I even used the 30 second rewind few times but it really was underwhelming. Overall it wasn't bad but I wouldn't listen to it again.

Forgettable

Too short. I want a 12+ hour adventure with the vengeful kobold. Naration was also really good.

Fun.

I was involved in the author’s think tank when the idea was created and I was really hoping I’d enjoy this more. It just wasn’t as refined as his other books and the narrator doesn’t do the story justice.
I never really bonded with the characters unfortunately.
If buying using coins it’s probably better value than using a credit due to the short length.

NPC turned villain!

Good novel, showing a Kobold's path to classical evil. A fun listen but with a mostly predictable story. Would still recommend it to most D&D fans.

Interesting Kobold to follow....

I have listened to this book several times and it never gets old. It is predictable but is also unique because of how it includes the aspect of the main character dying, while in other books it normally doesn’t have death and respawn of the main characters. Overall really good. Hoping for a sequel and maybe some backstory for whit’s companions.

Absolutely brilliant
