About this listen
When young drama student Mary Dreisler is found murdered in her flat, her father instantly sends for Paul Temple. There appears to have been no struggle, no robbery, no motive. The only possible clue is a package that arrives for the dead girl. It contains a gramophone record called My Heart and Harry and attached is a note: "Adored every minute of it - Spencer". Who is Spencer? Does the song have anything to do with the murder? If anyone can find the answers, Paul can.
©2000, 2004 Estate of Francis Durbridge (P)2000, 2004 BBC Audiobooks Ltd.I own the full P Temple collection & all are so enjoyable, I love to curl up for several hours & relax as the man & wife team take me on another enthralling 'By Timothy' journey of suspense, cocktails, murder & good old fashioned fun. Not a circuit board or swear word in sight.
Well worth a full credit, these plays last up to 4 hours & more of mystery sophistication, fast cars all wrapped up in the Paul & Stevie classic 50's & 60's style. No advertisements no awful organ music just great entertainment.
Each full cast acted by a team of well known professional actors, making these productions just as good as watching a TV programme. Perfection.
Paul & Stevie Perfection

The most annoying part is Temple's arrogance Steve will ask him a question sometimes more than once which he ignores then barks out some instruction to her this happens a few times .
He also gives orders to the police which he expects to be carried out. I know these serials were from a different age but what a big head!
Temple is so annoying

Would you listen to Paul Temple and the Spencer Affair (Dramatised) again? Why?
These classic stories really take you out of yourself.. They are of another time ......a time of dry martinis, Ticking parcels, womens intuition, bodies in bushes, women with 'pasts', Sir Graham of the yard, 'staff' and villains...... 'byTimothy they are good' ---What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
The ending is inconsequential--- its the journey that is Important -Which character – as performed by Full Cast – was your favourite?
'Steve' as she is the real brains of the operation----If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
'By Timothy its good" Pauls catch line -Usual formula, Usual fun ....
