About this listen

This audiobook includes an exclusive piece, written by Helen Fields, on the development of DI Callanach’s character throughout the series.

When silence falls, who will hear their cries?

The body of a young girl is found dumped on the roadside on the outskirts of Edinburgh. When pathologists examine the remains, they make a gruesome discovery: the outline of a doll carved into the victim’s skin.

DCI Ava Turner and DI Luc Callanach are struggling to find leads in the case until a doll made of skin is found nestled beside an abandoned baby.

After another young woman is found butchered, Luc and Ava realise the babydoll killer is playing a horrifying game. And it’s only a matter of time before he strikes again. Can they stop another victim from being silenced forever - or is it already too late?

"Relentless pace, devilish cleverness and a laser-sharp focus on plot." (Chris Brookmyre)

"Must read! With nail-biting twists at every turn, [Perfect Remains] will have readers gripped from start to finish." (Closer)

"Read it in two sittings. I literally had no choice. A fast and enthralling thriller, pitting a new, very human hero against one of the scariest psychos I've yet encountered in crime fiction." (Sunday Times best seller Paul Finch)

Best one in the series so far!!!!

A brutal but brilliant story yet again from Helen Fields and another strong performance by Robin Laing, now for the agonising wait for the next installment.

Helen Fields at her best!

Brilliant story, as usual.
I have just read one book after another in this series, so I suppose I’d better start the next one!!

Excellent read

Another great book in the series. Well read and kept me interested throughout. Can't wait to listen to the Kinect one.

Best one yet!

Brilliantly written with superb narration. Love the main characters and the storyline, whilst a bit gory, was gripping right up until the end.

Great story & narration. Ava is increasingly irritating

I’ve really enjoyed this series. The story lines are good but the characters are starting to lack personality. Ava is boring, righteous and has a stick up her rear end. Portrayed as practically perfect she is less and less relatable. Neither have any sense of humour & I fear Luke is heading the same way. the two completely deserve each other. More Daisy!!

Fantastic

Oh my gosh. I am so sad that I have finished this fourth book and I have to wait until next year to listen to the fifth one. I listened to these four books in order, one after the other and I cannot speak highly enough of this author. They are so good and I could not stop listening. To be honest, the third one is the weakest of the four in my opinion as it was not quite so intense and nail biting but nonetheless they were all brilliant and I feel very involved with the characters. HIGHLY recommended. Absolutely fabulous..!!

Thoroughly Enjoyable

Interesting well-developed characters who you can empathise with despite their flaws. A well-placed plot left me looking forward to the next Callanach book.

Enjoyed characters. Torture scenes too graphic.

I found the torture scenes too graphic and too frequent but enjoyed the characters and story line.

Beautiful narration and totally absorbing

Though subject matter a tough listen I thought the whole story well written and with the accent’s beautifully told.
