About this listen
Jason Mondy’s world is unraveling. He’s frustrated with his job, and his most recent girlfriend has just walked out on him. Even a simple trip home to find some rest leads his adoptive mother to share a stunning secret she’s kept for more than 26 years....
Jason has a brother he doesn’t remember existed.
Desperate and uncertain, Jason can only watch as one by one, the pieces of his life fall like dominoes. The more he uncovers, the more everything he thought he knew about himself and his past begins to turn to ash.
His truth isn’t true at all....

To get some respite he returns home to his adoptive mother's house, but even there he is hit with the bombshell that he had a younger brother which he had completely forgotten about in the stress of the fire that had orphaned him at the age of 7. He becomes obsessed with finding details of this supposedly dead child.
The story becomes a bit far-fetched at this point and there are so many coincidences that quite a major suspension of belief is required, but it does lead to a big revelation about how his mother died.
I enjoyed the description of fire station life, so different to the way that first responders in the UK are organised and there are some good characters.
The narration must have been good, because I was largely able to ignore it, it fitted in with the story so well.
Complex thriller
