About this listen
For actor Toby Flood, Brighton is the final week of a long tour. One night he is visited at the theatre by his estranged wife, Jenny, who, visibly scared, thinks she is being stalked. She asks Toby, for old times' sake, to find out what is going on.
Alarmingly he discovers a sinister connection with Jenny's new partner. Spurred on by a desire to win Jenny back, Toby begins to ask some difficult questions. Before he fully understands the risks he is running, he finds himself caught up in a mysterious - and dangerous - tangle of family rivalries and murderous intent. Suddenly the prospects for his survival start to look very far from good...

Hugely Enjoyable
An excellent story and well narrated. The twists and turns kept me wanting to listen far longer than I meant to or really had time for. I find Robert Goddard’s books to be extremely enjoyable and they translate to Audible extremely well. This was no exception.

Great book with outstanding narration.
I love Robert Goddards books. I’ve listened to quite a few but gave in with a couple because of poor narration. I was thrilled that this one was narrated by Damian Lynch who is perfect for this complex, clever (and slightly stressful) story.

Very engaging read
5 stars for all aspects with a slight caveat that the character accents grated a little although the main character reading was excellent. Really enjoyable story.

Glad when it ended
The hero Toby was to my mind exceptionally stupid, foolhardy and extremely annoying. Disappointing book.

Flawed hero, slightly ‘off’ narration.
The narrator has an irritating mannerism of clipping short the last word of every sentence that I found grating, although I can’t fault his accents and characterisations. As for the story, this is the second Goddard novel in a row which features a rather unsympathetic hero. This one is recklessly impulsive and also a bit thick, missing clues and conclusions that a man of even average intelligence should have picked up on. I have enjoyed other Goddard novels though so I might give him one more chance.
