Summary
He (was) the hottest player on the ice.
She's a (struggling) sports journalist looking for her big break.
Charlie Denton has been handed the most impossible assignment from her stick-in-the-mud boss: get an exclusive interview with the NHL's golden boy, Duke Harrison.
The catch? She's got eight days or she'll be demoted. Fired. Kicked to the curb - no way is she letting her future rest on the broad shoulders of a goalie who is at least three seasons past his prime.
She has eight days to convince Duke that the loyal fans of the Cambridge Tribune (annual circulation: 1,000) are dying to know about his life, on and off the ice. Eight days to stand toe-to-toe with a man who is pure sex on a stick. Eight days to remember that every mind-blowing kiss is nothing but a power play.

4,25⭐cute sport romcom
This story is adorable. And the award for most clueless fmc goes to Charlie, I wanted to scream to her.... But she is adorably cute in her cluelessness. This slow burn 🔥has very little spice and it's almost fade to black. Still, the story is fun and funny and the narration is really good. However, the audio and kindle don't match. It's only a few words here and there but when you read and listen simultaneously it makes a difference.

I had chuckled while listening, has its moments. Some moments are cute, not many.
I miss a bit of more build up on their attraction and falling for each other, personally I feel it's very out of the blue. It lacks banter and teasing (for being called power play, they could have played more) and the spicy parts are a bit meh, lacks substance in my opinion and I have cringe multiple times while listening, specifically in the end. The idea of the fantasy of doing it next to the cup I liked, the delivery of it, not so much, as said they could be a bit more creative.

Too much inner dialogue: Disappointed
Way too much mind waffle. I wanted to scream while listening to this story. I wanted to hear the conversation between Duke and Charlie. I was craving the connection. Instead what I got was Charlie's inner dialogue waffle and boy can she waffle. When books are jam-packed with inner thoughts it just wrecks the story. I won't listen to another book by this author.
The bits where Duke and Charlie communicate are great,
