About this listen
A spin-off from the number one Amazon best sellers A Not So Meet Cute and So Not Meant to Be and narrated by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter, USA Today best-selling author Meghan Quinn brings you a heartwarming yet hilarious full-length novel on what life is like after the happily ever after.
Ryot Bisley is my husband. Yes, the former third baseman for the Chicago Rebels and absolute heartthrob of the Windy City. That Ryot Bisley.
The first time I ran into him, he was grumpy, a horrific host, and left me on his sofa with nothing but a nylon baseball flag to use as a blanket.
The second time, he reluctantly bought me dinner, stared at my chest the entire night, and still sported that permanent frown.
The third time.... Well, that was a game changer. His smile captured me, his teasing charmed me, and his touches excited me.
So when he was called up to the majors that didn’t stop us from knocking it out of the park and all the way down the aisle.
Eleven years later...I’d love to say we’re happy as ever, but the man who sent me dirty text messages every day is long gone and Mr. Frowny Face is back.
He’s so focused on trying to build a life after baseball that he doesn’t see the life we’ve already created together...so I make the hard decision and serve him divorce papers.
Problem is...my husband refuses to accept those papers. Instead, he has a new game plan that makes untying the knot of our marriage a little tricky. And just when I thought I wanted to be traded...he's slowly, tantalizingly roping me back in.

Way, way too long!
Good story and I realise it covered a long period of time, but 15hrs? Good grief! Way too long. Narration was good, though I did find Jason’s a tad monotone sometimes. Female character was frustrating.

seriously does this women ever write a bad book!
so good, so so good. firstly, duet narration chef's kiss, both narrator's did and outstanding job but Jason Clarke, Holy smokes can that man perform 😉
the book is excellent, I was a bit dubious at first as I thought, she's ready to throw in the towel after a few difficult months, especially as how Riot had supported her in the past. but as the storyline develops you get a clearer understanding of Myla's thought process. I was pleased this book includes characters from other books of Meghan's that I've read, although there's no need to have read them to enjoy this story, other than why the hell wouldn't you want to.? 5 Well deserved stars.

The narration is outstanding!
I received a free early listening copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
This book completely drew me in! The duet narration is done perfectly and sounds wonderful!!
I have only one big issue with this book and that's that I felt the author threw too much at the heroine. Myla already started out with so much baggage and I felt what happens later on in the book was too much (at least for me, I guess). And I don't like that this one specific thing was used as a plot device for Myla and Ryot's relationship when Myla already has so few people she us really close to.
Overall, the book ends on a hopeful note (and has an HEA of course).
But it still kind of impacts my enjoyment of this book that was otherwise really great.
Second chance / broken marriage is such a hit and miss trope for me and here it was done exceptionally well! While it was clear why the marriage was in trouble, I never hated Ryot. He always stayed likable, even though he made a lot of bad decisions as far as their relationship went. Also, the way they played pranks at one another was honestly very funny!

Stellar performance
Grab your tissues, stock up on some quality snacks (iykyk...) and prepare for some potato shrivelling drama.
Not only am I left mouth agape, but I think I might need some therapy after listening to Ryot and Myla's story.
Myla had some very real and heavy personal stuff to work through, which on its own, would cripple most people.
However, she was such a trooper.
Yes, one could argue that she had the support from Ryot and her bestie to get her through, but she worked so hard to get to a better mental space that you have to acknowledge the strength that it took to do so.
While Ryot mostly seemed put together, he was also his harshest critic. You could sense the emotional turmoil he was experiencing, and. It. Hurt.
I nearly cried several times throughout this story from the raw pain that was portrayed through the narrators' voices.
On a slightly less dramatic note: The shenanigans were high—I'm talking A grade, quality pettiness—their chemistry was off the charts, and the emotional strain was intense.
But, having said all that, you could also feel the love that bound the two of them together.
Jason and Stella knocked this one out of the park. The feels these two provide while narrating this story can not be summed up by my limited vocabulary.
Absolutely stellar performance.
A top listen for the year.

Ryot and Myra!
After an injury forced Ryot to retire from baseball before he was ready, he was struggling trying to determine what direction he wanted his future to take. When his next career move required relocating to California, he didn’t think of how it would affect his wife, Myra. He believed that everything was fine until she served him with divorce papers and now, he is determined to do whatever is necessary to win her back.
Myra has always supported Ryot and his career but since moving to California she has never felt more alone. She has a difficult past where no one ever supported and put her first and she wasn’t about to let that happen again. She thought Ryot would always be there for her and feels he is too consumed by his career but when he realizes his mistakes will she be willing to open her heart and let him show her that he can be the man she needs him to be.
Ryot and Myra take us on an emotional agreement as the one thing that was never in doubt was their love for each other. The situation they find themselves in is a wake-up call and forces them to remember the love they share and what truly matters. The narrators were a perfect choice for the story as they brought out all the angst, humor, and love between the characters.

Emotional audiobook
I am used to reading romcoms from Meghan Quinn, having a marriage in peril trope was an interesting and very emotional read. I did laugh at some points but overall is an emotional ride. I liked the characters, their interactions, banter, and their chemistry. I think it was a bit longer than it should've been, some things dragged a bit, but I enjoyed it. The audiobook narrated by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter was fantastic, I love these narrators, and the way they interact with the story is very entertaining.
