Summary
""Kiss me. Just this once ... please, Walker."
Those whispered words were my undoing....
As the most hated player in baseball, I had two options: either clean up my image, or pack my bags. Being traded wasn't an option which only meant one thing, I had to become compliant.
That's how I found myself sharing a small bistro table with Kate Chapman, the Chicago Bobbies newest PR Manager. Devastatingly beautiful, vastly intelligent, and incredibly cunning, she knows exactly how to handle my grumpy demeanor.
It was supposed to be simple. Book some PR events, show up, smile for the camera, and be done. But one massive mistake on my end sends me into the trenches with Kate, forcing me to open up to her.
Innocent glances turn into cordial encounters.
Secret touches turn into tempting invitations.
And dangerous nights alone turn into consuming desperation.
I’ve never wanted a woman as much as I want her. And I know she wants me, but there’s a no fraternizing with the players rule. Neither of us can afford to lose our jobs, but we also can't seem to keep our hands off each other, either.

Walker and Kate!
Walker is the catcher for the Chicago Bobbie’s whose reputation for being surly and closed off is well known. After his most recent angry outburst the future with the team is in jeopardy if his attitude both on and off the field don’t improve. He is not enamored that Kate has been hired to improve his image however as she slowly breaks through the walls he has built around himself the situation only becomes more difficult as the team has a strict policy against personal relationships between employees.
Kate handles PR for the team and has been assigned the daunting task of ensuring that his fans and team sees his gentler and kinder side that he prefers to keep under wraps. She is not only determined to get to know the man and not the athlete but to help him regain the love he had for baseball before it become more obligation than fun but falling in love with him wasn’t part of the plan.
Due to the forbidden aspect their relationship is a slow burn but there was no denying the sparks everything they are together. They are kindred spirits when it comes to their pasts, and they take us on an emotional journey as they battle between what they know must be done and what their hearts want. The choice of narrators for this story couldn’t have been a better fit as they bring out all the humor, angst and heat that the characters are experiencing.

4.5 stars
I love series that are interconnected but that can also be read as a standalone and that is what you get with The Perfect Catch.
Add in a forbidden romance and Meghan Quinn really hits all the bases!
The story of Kate and Walker full of despair and is in turn frustrating, funny and finally love.
Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin bring this story to life, beautifully representing the grumpy personality of Walker and the sassiness of Kate!

Fun and Flirty!
Walker and Kate are opposites attract, and they are perfect together. I liked their banter. Walker is grumpy and handsome. I loved him! Kate is lovely, fun, and smart! Together they are a perfect match! Their slow burn story is fun, flirty, sexy, romantic, and heartwarming. Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin did a wonderful job with the narration. I enjoyed it!

Amazing banter, a hated player you will love
This is Walker and Kate's story, the most hated baseball player and the team event coordinator having to help clean up his image, their chemistry is off the charts, they don't deny their attraction, but working together makes the forbidden romance much sweeter to read, all the tension and angst building from it, then comes their banter which is fantastic, I laughed a lot and the sexy talk is one that I really enjoyed in this book. The series is very good if you love sports romances. The audiobook is narrated by the talented Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin, you can't go wrong with Jason Clarke ever. He has a voice that will hook you from the start. They both did brilliant work, I suggest you get the audible version and enjoy this story.

Couldn’t stop listening!!
I really loved this book. The character development was really good and also the storyline. The chemistry between the leads was so good There was also a major plot twist that had my jaw hanging for like five minutes. This one is definitely going on my favourites list.
Narrators also did a stellar job bringing the characters to life

All angsty yearny tension and fantastic narration!
Walker and Kate were all tension, angst, heat and yearning. The best parts of forbidden romance that had my body on edge from all the deliciousness. Walker starts out as a hot headed unlikeable guy. He is clearly holding a grudge and on a downward spiral. Kate is new to the Bobbies and determined to succeed at her new job which has her coordinating community event and promotional opportunities for the Bobbies. This puts Walker directly in her path and instead of bowing to his curmudgeony behavior she gives as good as he does and it starts to wake him up.
This story is a slow burn with delicious tension. They want each other, understand and respect the consequences of what fraternizing would mean for their careers, but just can't stay away. Holy hotness, the bedroom scenes had me panting and sweating and fanning myself with my kindle. Both Kate and Walker have dirty minds and dirty mouths and some really dirty texts.
One of the things I liked about this workplace romance is that the consequences for both Kate and Walker are equal. There is not an unequal distribution of power, even though he is a baseball player and she is office staff, they are both risking their jobs and they just can't resist.
I loved that these characters didn't make dumb decisions no predictable plot holes and there is towards the end that had me literally exclaiming "Holy plot twist Batman" in the middle of the night scaring my husband awake. I did NOT see it coming!! (good job Meghan!!)
This audio book is narrated by Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin and the casting was perfection. Jason Clarke was all sorts of growly grumpy deliciousness and Vanessa Edwin is a strong female lead who also does a great male voice.
5 outstanding stars from me this book was a home run, knocked it out of the park all the punny baseball puns you can think of.
I received an ARC and ALC of this book and voluntarily give my review.

Loved it from start to finish
The Perfect Catch is another brilliant edition to Meghan's Brentwood Baseball series. Walker and Kate were the perfect match for one another and I loved this book from start to finish. Kate is the PR manager to the Bobbies and is told to work with Walker to improve his public image. Walker is a player who lives for the game, he doesn't enjoy the fame and notoriety that comes with being a MLB player and is reluctant to do what it takes to change how people perceive him, until the threat of a trade or early retirement becomes a reality.
The chemistry between Kate and Walker is there from the very beginning, both stubborn with Kate giving as good as she gets when it comes to Walker. She won't be fazed by his uncaring attitude and continues to push him, to crack the façade he keeps in place. The tension is only heightened by the Bobbies no fraternisation rule, making their attraction and potential relationship forbidden. Of course when the attraction is mutual you can only resist so long right! My goodness do these two set the pages on fire!
What I loved was that Walker comes across as a tough guy, disinterested, cold, uncaring but really he is anything but to the people that matter. He lost someone that meant the world to him and has never forgiven himself. Those demons have a massive role to play and when he lets Kate in my heart melted into a puddle. Of course it wouldn't be a Meghan Quinn book without a worthy break up along the way and the twist for this one blew my mind!!!! All the emoji's and gifs I have in my repertoire came out to play when I needed to vent to a friend who was reading too. I did not see it coming but I loved reading what followed to reach the HEA I wanted for Walker and Kate.
The Perfect Catch flowed so well, I loved every minute of it. I did listen to the audiobook after reading the eBook and I have to applaud Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin (she made me love Kate even more) for doing an amazing job portraying Walker and Kate. Their performances reflected what I read and more. The emotions from Walker especially as somewhat of a tortured hero were vivid and switching that over to the dominant hero he is when he has Kate in his sights well.......HOT!
Whether you are a reader or a listener, this book has something for everyone. Kate as a heroine is so likable and real and I loved how she stood up to Walker and persisted when it came to getting to know the man behind the public front he wears as armour. A fantastic book all round!

So much FIRE!! 🔥
The Perfect Catch by Meghan Quinn is quite sexy. I'm pretty sure this needs an x-rating. Y'all are about to get Quinn at her naughtiest and her rarest! These two.... this forbidden romance might be a slowburn but it does not lack in the heat level. Besides this hotness that I have never experienced in a book before (no joke), Walker and Kate touch on some strong subjects. They aren't just sex. There's so much more to these two. They become so close, where no subject is off limits to the other. Quinn brought all the emotions and I didn't expect that. The heat level was so high that I wasn't sure they could reach the same level in emotion. They did. They talked to each other and reached a deeper level together. I loved the book. Walker might be my favorite Bobbie player and he's got some stiff competition.
The narration was brilliant. It was all breathy heat to match their x-rating. Vanessa Edwin is the BEST at being breathy and wanton. You could feel the need Kate had for Walker. Her man voice isn't my favorite but it isn't laughable and that's huge IMO. I really enjoy the narration during their conversations... they pauses are perfect and their voices inflict and sound like a normal conversation. Jason Clarke kills Walker's personality. At first he comes off all crass and cold... just like Walker. Then I started to notice some changes in his voice. He was softer and kind. Then he's completely smitten and the transformation in him is noticeable. Clarke's bedroom voice is one that'll make women weak in the knees.

Lots of baseball, sexy time and teasing
Oh my word! Forbidden romance at its absolute best. Kate Chapman and Walker Rockwell. These two have absolutely no willpower when it comes to each other, it is however a slow burn. Tease, tease, tease. Kate has been brought in to the Chicago Bobbies fold to manage the PR for the players! And let me tell you Walker and Penn are PR nightmares, Walker specifically, especially when Penn presses his buttons. He has one heck of a temper, but Kate manages to find his soft and squishy side. Lots of emotional drama, lots of back and forth, and lots of sexy times and teasing. They can deny each other all they want, but they are drawn to each other, they’re so intense when they are together. Passion, desire, want, and then BAM! Curveball. I did not see that coming, and I can normally see plot twists from a mile away. Not as comedic as some of the previous stories, but still a wonderfully enjoyable read/audio. If you do happen to listen to the audio version, be warned Jason Clarke has the dirty talking Walker down to a tee, he really does brings Walker to life. Vanessa Edwin is his perfect match. A highly entertaining audio.
