About this listen
"She went home with someone else that night?" Hearing the disbelief from my best friend's mouth makes the events of my failed date sting that much more. I would like to make it known, I have a lot more swagger than what it seems. I don't normally ask a girl out, have her fail to recognize it's a date, and then give me a high five - as if I'm her wingman - and take off with someone else. No. Normally I'm the one taking the girl home, but with Stella, it's been one failed attempt after another and frankly, I'm done trying.
But thanks to my best friend getting married in Hawaii right before the school year starts, I'm stuck on a tropical island, watching Stella parade around in what she claims is a bathing suit. Unfortunately, that's not the worst of it - just the tip of the iceberg. Because what I think is going to be a relaxing vacation, avoiding the one girl I can't seem to make it work with, has turned into a spectacle of being recruited as Stella's doting fake fiancé so she can save face with an old "friend" from high school. Now, I'm navigating through purgatory while trying not to get turned on by the way she holds my hand or kisses my jaw. It's all fake, that's what I keep telling myself - even though it feels entirely too real.
©2021 Meghan Quinn (P)2021 Meghan QuinnStella - feisty, fun, a little lost, and a hot mess - there was a lot for her to discover in her journey and a mountain of growth in her character.
Sebastian and Erin did an amazing job with narration. Seriously, it's one of my all time favorite audiobooks.
The banter, the chemistry, the tension, the frustration - it was intense, it was hilarious, and it was all kinds of steamy.
It was also infuriating. The way that Stella and Brock kept dancing around each other, never quite getting there almost made me angry. But, boy the ride to the finish line was so worth it.
I loved this book, despite the frustration because it was funny, playful, hella hot, and a really enjoyable book to listen to.

Stella is Romeo’s fellow teacher and she thought they were friends however he certainly isn’t acting like it. Her friend’s destination wedding takes a turn when she runs into her father and his fiancé who happens to be the girl who made her high school experience a nightmare. Before she knows it, she is telling them she is engaged and now she just needs to convince Romeo to play the part.
The only pretend part of the relationship was Stella and Romeo pretending they didn’t have feelings for each other. The narrators did a great job of bringing out all the witty banter, hot chemistry and all the feels as the depth of Romeo’s love for Stella is enough to make you swoon.

Make that two - glue (ha ha)
Oh what the heck, who am I kidding. So many words. It’s Meghan Quinn for crying out loud. Funny is her middle name. Where does she come up with these hilarious storylines, she is the absolute queen of rom com.
That said, there are some really emotional moments in this story too, Brock ‘Romeo’ Romero and Stella Garcia really need to learn how to communicate, so many misunderstandings, and for two people with so much in common, and so much attraction and chemistry, you would think navigating a friendship/relationship would come more naturally. Those pesky insecurities getting in the way of true love. This friends to lovers, fake engagement rom com takes us back to Forest Heights High School where this wonderful group of friends taking a trip to Hawaii to celebrate Arlo and Greer’s nuptials. This story is an interconnecting standalone so you’ll quite possibly come across some of your other favourite characters in and amongst. Another wonderful read. I completely adored Stella, she was narrated perfectly by Erin Mallon. As much as I love Sebastian York, who did in fact do a standup job, I’m not 100% sure he was the best choice for Romeo.

Stella is put on the spot and she has no choice but to ask Brock to be her fiancé. Brock hopes it becomes real. You get a little glimpse of what couple will be next
The performance of Erin Mallon and SebYo is fantastic. They both brought the stoy to life . They do all the feelings and tones great

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and I am so glad I did. Although Erin Mallon is usually great, she absolutely knocked this one out of the park. Her comedic timing is the best in the business and it really shone through. At the same time, she delivers emotion in a way that makes me feel it myself. Sebastian York was also particularly good in this book. He is also very good at comedy and I feel like he really delivered.

I found myself angry at the characters in the book a lot, but I was never angry with the book. It's odd to think about but I loved listening to this book and it seems contradictory to say that I was angry at the characters but not the book but I guess that is the genius of Meghan Quinn. I was angry and disliked Ashley and Stella's Dad as well as her other family members through most or all of the book.
Stella is impulsive and selfish and a little unstable. Brock is obsessed and in love with Stella, and a little self sabotaging.
The problem is the two of them can't communicate to save their lives! It was maddening!! I found myself yelling at the audiobook because they both thought they were communicating but they weren't. It was like they were talking to each other in 2 different languages and then were shocked when they were misunderstood.
What was clear is that they are both passionate about each other and have a very strong friendship. This book had me laughing so hard I was crying and it also had me an emotional wreck. That is the skill of a good author!!
Keiko continued to be an amazing side character and comic relief and I hope she stick around in many more books.
Sebastian York was a perfect Brock Romero and Erin Mallon gave an amazing performance as Stella with perfect comedic timing! There were a couple moments where names were mispronounced by Mr. York, but he growled in my ear enough that I forgive him.
I completely enjoyed this audiobook, laughter and emotion, I was completely invested in every word.
I received an advance copy of the book and voluntarily give my review.

From start to finish I could not put this book down, from funny, to heartfelt, from cold to steaming hot this couple covers about ever emotion possible and it sweeps you away in their whirlwind holiday romance.
Earn Your Extra Credit had me hot under the collar on several occasions, the chemistry between these two was insane! Not only that but Stella's ownership of her sexuality and sensuality was really empowering and I loved seeing that side to a heroine. Of course this is a Meghan Quinn book so there were countless times I sat chuckling to myself with the chaos caused in some of the scenes. Then on the flip side the grand gesture definitely gave me a lump in my throat and a lip wobble because I was 100% invested in these characters!
