About this listen

"His perfect indifference, and your pointed dislike, make it so delightfully absurd!"

Pride and Prejudice has delighted generations of readers with its unforgettable cast of characters, carefully choreographed plot, and a hugely entertaining view of the world and its absurdities. With the arrival of eligible young men in their neighbourhood, the lives of Mr and Mrs Bennet and their five daughters are turned inside out and upside down. Pride encounters prejudice, upward-mobility confronts social disdain, and quick-wittedness challenges sagacity, as misconceptions and hasty judgements lead to heartache and scandal, but eventually to true understanding, self-knowledge, and love. In this supremely satisfying story, Jane Austen balances comedy with seriousness, and witty observation with profound insight. If Elizabeth Bennet returns again and again to her letter from Mr Darcy, readers of the novel are drawn even more irresistibly by its captivating wisdom.

A world away from where I am, who I am and what I am...but this is a totally engaging, funny, interesting, challenging and rewarding world. Lots of well trodden paths, new places to explore, thoughts to think and reflections to bring to the world inside and outside the Vauxhall Vectra where I sat in comfortable isolation and enjoyed this book. Hours and hours of time well spent - no better recommendation whoever you are, whatever you are, whenever you can be there.

A world away......

A masterpiece which doesn't lose anything of its strength with the years!

If you have only see tv or movie adaptions you have to read it for yourself. Some of the best dialogues in the history of literature.

My favorite is probably Mr.Bennet proposal to Elisabeth, wonderfully performed in this audiobook edition.

Listen to a masterpiece

I loved the TV series and hence thought I would listen to the book. I have to say I think it was really excellent and added in more things that the TV series had left out.

As good as the BBC TV Series

Lindsay Duncan is the very best narrator I’ve had the pleasure of listening to. She is the perfect choice for Austen. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook.

Beautifully narrated version of a classic

This is such a wonderful book. I selected this version purely based on the narrator and I was able to sail through this story in only three sittings in three days. I am familiar with the book, TV and two film versions so this was a treat. I was able to carry on with my work and feel the story come alive with this telling.

Always loved the story and preferred this narrator

Lindsay Duncan brings out all the nuances and subtleties in the changing landscape of feelings, stories and friends (and not friends anymore) beautifully and the humour, to actual chuckles... in this iconic, timeless love story of Will he? Won't he? Will she? Won't she? Will they? Won't they? Ok so we probably know they will and I still love it anyway.

If you happen to be wondering which unabridged P and P to get, this one gets my vote, or even if you already have another version maybe give it a whirl, I added this to my collection, as you can never have too many?

Classic Jane Austen is awesome obviously
