Utter Brilliant Book would Highly Recommend
This book genuinely made me cry. It is so heart felt and meaningful. I suspect that the fact that I am in the progress of unpacking after moving house at the end of an extremely challenging year also has something to do with it. But honest this was just what I needed would highly recommend. This book is pure magic.
I love the tone and pacing very soothing. The exercises are are useful and interesting. I listened to the audio version of this book. And I love the narrators voice again it is so calm and soothing a perfect fit.
While I would still recommend, I do have a couple of more 'negative' comments to make as well. While I agree that forgiveness is important. I disagree with the concept that it is 'owed' to everyone. This book seems to imply even if people has really hurt you, and have taken no ownership for their actions you should still forgive them. While I suspect that the writers definition of forgiveness is very different from my own. I still can't agree with this concept. Some wounds are just to deep and actions have consequences. But hay maybe I'm not at that stage of the healing journey.

Brilliant
Get it now. Tara narrates clearly, authentically, and meaningfully. I skipped the meditations and it was still great.

Quite a nice and helpful book
This is quite a nice book. I’ve listened to quite a few of Brach’s podcasts etc so was a bit worried the book would repeat a lot of the same stories (as I’ve found with some Jack Kornfield books) but that wasn’t the case. The tone of the book is kind and it feels supportive. It’s also easy to listen to. Most of it you can listen at x2 speed although you would want to slow down for the meditations. The meditations/practices themselves are clearly set out and easy to follow. They are not going to change your life overnight (none of these books can despite what some claim) but you will definitely find them helpful. This is a book I will want to read again. My only slight quibbles are that it would be helpful to have an accompanying pdf with the practices in them and/or to have the practices marked out as chapters so they can be easily revisited.

Take care of yourself first
Once i have found my way to my true feelings and embodied these feelings Tara beautifully guides me through the steps to self love and self acceptance. She is relentless in her belief than this is the foundation for a calm fulfilledlife.
I am convinced!

Game changer!
The RAIN practice has changed my relationship with myself and my suffering and that of others. It gives a great clear method to reach a state of self compassion, which is something I've struggled to grasp for a long time!

Tara Brach is Wonderful!
More wonderful, life soothing wisdom from Tara Brach. She is a fantastic teacher and has a lovely, calming and reassuring voice and what she says is down to earth and easy to understand... and easy to put into practice in your life. Its all about coming back to yourself as a resource/refuge as opposed to seeking comfort in transient pleasures, out there in the world. The message is very moving... I cried with relief sometimes!
She points out how we can treat ourselves badly and are our own worst critics...and that would make anyone feel bad! Here is a way out of our self defeating thoughts and habits.
Tara has a light hearted approach and also has a great sense of humour and often uses it to get the point across. Its a gentle but profound journey into healing, that she offers.
This book can work well for seasoned meditators from any system or people who have never meditated before. It has universal appeal and can be pertinent for people of any faith or none.
I've been listening to Tara Brach for many years... she has helped me be a lot more compassionate towards myself and others and I therefore feel happier and more at home in myself. I'm also learning to be more aware of the present moment being where we live and what we actually have.
Listening to this book is certainly better than reading it ,in my opinion, as you can enjoy the spoken instructions for the meditations and her calming voice.
I can't recommend this, or indeed anything from her, highly enough.

Wonderful book read by the Author
I have greatly benefited from listening to this book. It felt felt like a mini enyclopedia of mindfulness practices; particularly in the last couple of chapters. It’s rare for a book of this type, but everything resonated with me so strongly - perhaps because Tara was reading it.

some useful and actionable insights
3,5 stars; useful insights and a workable RAIN (recognize allow investigate nurture) principle up until chapter 6; afterwards the story takes a deep nosedive and feels redundant.
