About this listen

Hired to fly four racing buffs to the track, pilot Matt Shore expects it will be the kind of job he likes: quick and easy. Until, that is, he’s forced to make an emergency landing just minutes before the plane explodes.

Luckily, no one is hurt, but it isn’t long before Matt realises that he’s caught up in the rat race of violent criminals who are dead-set on putting anyone who stands in their way on the wrong side of the odds.

Well Narrated

Although elements of the plot are dated the narrator carried the story well. I enjoyed it.

Great story, boring actor

Great story, especially if you are a pilot as this is about a private pilot who encounters difficulties; very good research as usual. However, I would have thought Ian Ogilvy would be a good narrator, but in truth, he's quite boring. Tony Brittan is king for sure, sad to hear that he passed away 2 weeks ago aged 91.

Loved it.

I read all the Dick Francis books as a teen, which was long enough ago to have forgotten the stories. But I hadn't forgotten how enjoyable they are. Enjoyed this one and liked the way it was read.

Flight of quality

Dick Francis has yet again taken another aspect of life and mixed it with the world of racing and thrilled yet again.

Great.

I had read this book years back but the story was new to me again, after all that time. Dick Francis books are always great and this one didn't disappoint either. The narration was first class, even though it was obviously recorded a long time ago.

Great

You know what you get with a Dick Francis - and this is no exception. Great plot with horses (although this one has fewer horses than usual).

Gripping

As usual, Dick Francis holds your attention right to the end. I found Ian Ogilvy’s slightly sardonic narration very in keeping with the character of the protagonist and enjoyed it.
