Summary
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds comes a steamy romance about what happens when a risk-taker tries to follow the rules.
Jade has always been the reckless type. But after her relationship implodes and her business goes under, she realizes it might be time to change her ways. She decides on a fresh start in a new place: Montana.
But shortly after her arrival in Big Sky Country, she meets headstrong wilderness retreat owner Maverick, whose name, fittingly, means “dissenter.” Jade tries to convince herself he’s not the type of man she needs in her life. The problem is, she wants him in her life. She wants him more than anything.
For Maverick, his attraction to this out-of-towner is undeniable. But he’s sworn off relationships—until he gets to know the fiery-haired, fiery-tempered Jade. He can’t help but wonder if it’s worth opening himself up to her. It’s a gamble, sure. But is it reckless?
Or is love a high-stakes game of risk and reward that just might pay off in the end?

And the end came
This is book 3 in the series. Maverick and Jade's hea. They both have issues and they overcome it by stopping fighting they undeniable connection and attraction. We saw her on the first book as she is Sibil 's bestie, so in this book we get more from the first couple too.
Aurora Rose Reynolds writes really sweet, low angst romance with some tension and spice too.

Small town romance with HEA
This is a standalone and the third and final book in this series and concentrates on Maverick and Jade.
After reading book 2, I was expecting a different FMC than Jade, but I'm not surprised that Jade finally made the move to be closer to Cybil.
This is a no-drama small-town romance with a HEA, and tied up the series.
I can't say I loved Jade, she spent most of her time complaining about her failed history with men, although she only ever mentions her last boyfriend, and her failed bookshop but then proceeds to open up another bookshop.
I liked Maverick, but I would have liked to have seen way more chapters from his POV. He was the driving force in their relationship and I liked how he treated Jade. What I didn't like was how after discussing what they both wanted for the future, only to find it was completely different, he managed a complete 180 within days. Then when he went to talk with Jade, they made up and were back together with just a couple of sentences, it was way too quick to discuss the topic properly and felt really rushed.
I do like that this author gives us multiple epilogues, for more than one jump into the future, but I wish it didn't always have to involve marriage and babies for every single character, and I mean every character - this isn't the only way someone can enjoy a HEA (and this is from someone who is married with kids). The surrogacy pregnancy was a bit random and didn't add anything to the story so I'm confused as to why it was included.
- Duel POV
- small-town romance
- standalone
- completed series
The duel narration was good and I felt like I got a good feel for the characters from the voices. I would listen to them both again.
