You've never met anyone like her . . .

Antonia Scott is special. Very special. She is not a policewoman or a lawyer. She has never wielded a weapon or carried a badge, and yet, she has solved dozens of crimes.

But it's been a while since Antonia left her attic in Madrid. The things she has lost are much more important to her than the things awaiting her outside.

She also doesn't receive visitors. That's why she really, really doesn't like it when she hears unknown footsteps coming up the stairs.

Whoever it is, Antonia is sure that they are coming to look for her.

And she likes that even less . . .

Praise for Red Queen:

'A Spanish spin on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo . . . A female Sherlock Holmes' - The Times

'Often compared with Lisbeth Salander . . . Antonia Scott looks destined to leave every bit as lasting an impression.' - Daily Mail

'This fast-paced story crackles with energy as it roams between Madrid's most exclusive enclaves and seedy back streets' – Best Books of 2023, Financial Times

Grippingly good

I really enjoyed listening to this. Scott Brick does a great job of taking us into the world of Antonia and John. I loved the characters complexity, the uniqueness of the story and its complexity was refreshing.

Complex

An interesting and twisted plot that cracks along at a good pace. The characters are complex and drew me in, the writing is well crafted. If you liked the Dragon Tattoo series you’ll enjoy this.

Unnecessarily complex

All readers like a twists in the plot but the author went out of his to make this convoluted, the story is basically Holmes and Watson in a modern Spain, sets itself up for the following books, I enjoyed it but felt it could have been less whimsical, narration saved the day and kept me listening

Fantastic thriller with relentless action

This story has the most heart-touching, powerful characters with extraordinary intelligence, courage and strength.

The action never lets up, which means you can find yourself wondering whether a good sit down might not occasionally do everyone some good.

The narrator does a terrific job of delivering this complex, compelling tale of secret forces for good and evil, the realities of capitalism, the wickedness people will justify and the workings of a heroine’s mind so fiercely intelligent it burns fast and furious 24-7. The pace is full on. You might need a rest now and again. I certainly did even if the characters didn’t seem to. I’m glad I made it to the end, but there were times when I wasn’t going to. But I’m a completist and I’m glad of that.

I really enjoyed the interview at the end of the book, between author and narrator. It gave me greater clarity and insight into the characters and the processes for two undoubtedly highly talented creative men. Bravo.
