About this listen
A marriage of convenience between a dirty-talking prince and the socially awkward scientist who brings him to his knees...
A marriage proposal from a deliciously handsome and wickedly charming prince sounds like a fairytale.
But for a nerdy scientist with severe social anxiety, it's a horror story.
Prince Torin O'Grady, with his mischievous blue eyes and cocky grin, is always in the spotlight. And he needs to marry me to inherit the crown.
But we have nothing in common. He's a future king. And I'm perfectly happy slogging through mud in my work boots.
So why can't I stop thinking about him?
Maybe because he won't stop texting me. And sending me gifts. And making me feel like everything I find awkward and weird about myself is special and amazing.
And there's also that little detail of him offering me my dream job and telling me that together we can change the world.
Well, I could probably work for him.
And if I have to marry him temporarily to get what we both want, then fine. It's for the greater good.
It has nothing to do with the way he kisses me. Or that dirty mouth. Or the royal treatment he gives me in the bedroom.
Fine. Maybe it does. Still, it's only a year. Then I can turn in my tiara and come back to my normal, boring, behind-the-scenes life.
But Torin is determined to turn me from reluctantly royal to royally his.

I really enjoyed this book a lot! Torin is a swoony hunk of a man, and Abi is a sweet, albeit awkward and anxious gem.
Jason’s Irish accent was SO well done, and his effortless flip between Torin’s irish accent and misc characters having other accents was really smooth. Jason is one of my faves, and he didnt fail to deliver!
Shaina is relatively new to me, and I really enjoyed her performance. There were some acting choices that I wasn’t sure about at first but as the book went on, I realised how damn smart they were and how much they added to Abi’s character. I also really liked her quality of voice, it’s different from many of the other narrators I’ve listened to lately and variety is the spice of life right? Shaina has this nice, slightly deep/husky quality that I enjoyed.
Both actors did a wonderful job.
As for the book itself, well written and fun, I will definitely be reading more from Erin!

This is a the crown jewel!
I love a book that makes me feel good and everything about this one was just that, a feel good story! Erin Nicolle is a favorite, always giving a good mix of humor and romance and this adding of royalty is just giving it all the more fun! Prince Torin is the next in line to take over the throne, but his past antics have not given his grandfather much faith in his ability to do it. His roots haven't taken and he shows no future in settling down. Abbi is a brilliant woman, gorgeous and has caught the eye of the handsome prince, not just once, but twice at weddings they both attended. Attraction is there, and now with the idea of a marriage of convenience to appease his grandfather, he is hopeful. Abbi is ready to go, but is super shy. Being a princess will not be easy, but with Torin's protection by her side and the chance to do what she loves the most, farm for those in need, she is taking the chance. But as feelings grown, will these two figure out what is truly best for the Island of Cara? So good, I fell in love with this story. I love Torin and his way with Abigail as he calls her. I love how he interacts with the people of the island and his true love of his country. Abbi is sweet, and her shyness is so endearing. This is a fantastic listen and I loved it!
The narration is fabulous of this gem. Jason Clarke pulls out all the stops as Torin. He is definitely royal with a rebellious feel. His love for Abbi and his land pours out of Clarke's portrayal. Shaina Summerville shines as Abbi. Coming in with her awkwardness, she slowly becomes more comfortable. These two make this marriage of convenience music to the ears.

5 Stars!
Swoony, heartfelt, marriage of convenience royal book! I loved everything about it!
I really loved this book! It really was such a swoony, heartfelt, and romantic story! Torin is the crown prince of the fictional nation of Cara. He needs to get married so that he can become King once his grandfather steps down. Unfortunately, the person his family has in mind for him to get married to is not only in love with someone else, but that someone else is Torin’s best friend and bodyguard. Besides, Torin just doesn't want to marry her. He however, can’t stop thinking about a certain American whom he met some years ago. He derives a plan to ask Abigail to marry him for convivence.
Abigail meanwhile is hard at work. She has soo many farming ideas but finds a lot of it hard to implement due to a lot of bureaucracy and red tape. Torin however, loves her ideas. She is unsure of if she should go ahead and marry the prince, partially due to her anxiety issues and all the fame and media attention she would get if she were to become a princess. Torin sweetens the deal by allowing her to implement all her farming ideas in his home country of Cara, and they both agree for a time limit of 1 year of marriage while he proves to his grandfather that he can and wants to be King one day. With only one year in agreement, they don’t plan to fall in love, but of course this happens. Together, they both prove to everyone in Cara, including Torin’s grandfather the current king, that they are perfect together and meant to rule one day.
As mentioned, I really loved this book! It was so fun and romantic to listen to. The writing, the characters, the pacing, just about everything about this book had me captivated from the beginning, all the way through the end. I also loved how protective, kind, and patient Torin was with Abigail. Plus, I loved the anxiety rep. Overall, this was a great read, and I highly recommend!
Narrated by Jason Clarke and Shaina Summerville, they both gave a fantastic performance as Prince Torin and Abigail respectively. Clarke especially did amazingly at the Irish accent; I mean I’m not the authority on Irish accents as I’m not Irish. However, it seemed believable. Overall, they both had me enjoying my reading experience all the way through the book.

A Royal Romance! ♥️
This is the first book in the Royals Gone Rogue Series, a Royal Romance. Torin and Abigail's story is sweet, passionate, and heartwarming. Torin is handsome, alpha, dominant, supportive, and caring. He is hot! I loved his determination. Abigail is beautiful, shy, smart, and kind. They are opposites attract. The chemistry is sizzling hot. I liked the instant attraction/love. The supporting characters are great, and I would love to know more about them. This is a sweet marriage of convenience royal romance. Jason Clarke and Shaina Summerville did an excellent job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Reluctantly Rogue, the next book in the series.

Torbin and Abigail!
Torbin may be a prince, but it isn’t a position that he is comfortable with especially as he faces pressure to marry. The one thing he does know is that he wants the bride to be his choice and he wants that woman to be Abigail and he is prepared to offer her an arrangement she can’t refuse.
Abigail is an intelligent woman who has an idea that could transform farming but due to her past she isn’t comfortable in social situations. She may be attracted to Torbin but believes that they are way too different however when he offers to support her idea if she agrees to a marriage with a time limit it will give them both what they want.
The chemistry and feelings between them were never in doubt as Torbin appreciates Abigail for the woman she is while the evolution of Abigail as she gains confidence was wonderful to see. The narrators were a perfect choice for the characters as they brought out the quirky side of Abigail as well as how swoony Torbin is.

Great audio performances, stand alone in series
Reluctantly Royal is a stand alone story in a new series, but I do wish I had re-listened to some Erin Nicholas' Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild series as there is some overlap of characters between the two series. I loved that Torin and Abi worked together as a team throughout the book.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by the fabulous Jason Clarke and new-to-me Shaina Summerville. It was performed in the duet style, and their performances added an extra dimension to the story.
I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.
