Summary
After the disastrous mission to Lakshmibai, the very existence of the Commonwealth is called into question by politicians on Avalon. But as the political firestorm mounts, a call for help arrives from Thule, a highly-developed world facing a major insurgency in the wake of the Empire's collapse. Reluctantly, the Commonwealth deploys the Commonwealth Expeditionary Force to Thule. But all is not as it seems. Action Packed
Series still going strong. However, I doubt I would want to serve under Jasmin, unless I had a death wish. How someone who, supposedly, has gone through all she has gone through can be so naive beggars belief.
That said; good fast action and, thankfully, less scowling, which is always a plus.

The rest of the book is missing
As always Christopher Nuttall does a good job, but this book isn't up to his usual standard and I wouldn't even dignify it with the word book really. It has a beginning and part of the middle, but the rest is missing. it has been written as if it was part of a far larger manuscript, but like it's been chopped into two or even three separate books. The content of the book even seems to be lacking as usual flair. In short if you wasn't for the fact I'm a big fan and had a few credits to burn I probably would've missed this book out.

Pointless and baffling
First the title of this book is a joke considering Forces actually retreat and surrender in this book. Secondly It was such a pointless part of the series which could’ve been so much better if the battles where allowed to happen.
Instead you’re teased about there being a big battle only to find nothing happened and the whole campaign was pointless
I love this series but I’m so disappointed.
