Summary
Sarah Holt wants nothing more than to win the Burke and Duke internship and mentor under some of the country’s top architectural minds. The only obstacle between Sarah and her goal is a jilted ex-lover hell-bent on sabotaging her career.
When Sarah meets Leo Russell, an unlikely undergraduate, the attraction is instantaneous, and all her best-laid plans begin to unravel. For the first time in her life, Sarah considers the fact that there may be one thing more important to her than her ambition. As her feelings for Leo grow stronger, however, so does her suspicion that all is not as it appears with the man she is falling for. Determined to uncover the truth, Sarah begins to investigate Leo’s murky past, only to discover a house in the suburbs, and a stunningly sophisticated redhead who implores Sarah to walk away.
As the line between right and wrong becomes blurred by the shocking revelation of Leo’s guarded secrets, Sarah must make a decision that will ultimately determine the rest of her life.

Review
Wow!! This book was amazing...I loved everything about it... the characters, the story, the twists and real emotions. Truly wonderful writing by an author that is becoming one of my favourites.
I enjoyed the narrator immensely, however there were some glitches, if I can call them that, with the editing... while listening there would be these weird blotches of narration where the volume would increase / decrease and the narrators voice would change that was jolting and not a pleasant experience. I did try to ignore it since I really was enjoying the book.

great story
Well first the good.. This is a very good story line, was interesting and I liked the characters. The plot is well written and the characters well rounded and easy to picture. The narration is good and the voice warm.
However for me a little to much of the female going weak at the knees and being rescued by strong arms of the man.. a little too much heaving chest, heart shattering into pieces and generically strong males and fainting females..
On the whole good.

Emotional read
I wasn’t too keen on this book to start off with, too many college kids, but I am so glad I persevered. This is a love story with a difference, and what a difference! Be prepared to be heartbroken and then have your broken heart stamped on. I am still reeling.

A man of secrets.
This was an easy listen by an author who adopts various guises according to her genres. I had read one other by Lissa Del, A Life Made of Lava, and I have to confess, this was always going to be a hard act to follow. I enjoyed Riven, but sadly, it couldn't compete with its predecessor.
Sarah Holt is a motivated architecture student, top of her class and desperate to earn herself an internship into Burke & Duke. She sees this as her chance to learn from the subject's super-stars. When we meet her she is finishing an ill-advised relationship with one of her tutors. Meanwhile, along comes Leo - handsome, dashing Leo. What's a girl to do? A new relationship always brings a string of unknowns and Leo seems to be hiding more than most.
I enjoyed discovering Leo's secrets and Sarah's reactions to them. But that ending!!
Well read by Katlynn Millions.

Interesting take on contemporary romance
Although I quite enjoyed the story, I was distracted by the narrator's occasional mispronunciation of a word. Her voice was engaging, energy-filled, and well-suited to the tone of the novel as a whole, but I'm rather sensitive to mistakes of this nature and it put a damper on my good experience of this book.
This is no conventional love story, though it may seem that way at first. Then again, Lissa Del does not write conventional anything, and regardless of how one feels about certain tropes and topics, no reader or listener will come away unchanged or unchallenged. There are twists and turns galore in this passionate unfolding of imperfectly perfect love story that proves that black and white are arbitrary symbols. It's the shades of grey that set the tone here.
A good story, well-rendered in audio by a narrator well suited to the story.

Loved it
It’s very rare that I devour an audio book in one sitting but I couldn’t stop listening to this story. It is beautifully written and narrated and a heartwarming and sometimes breaking love story. I don’t want to spoil it so I won’t say any more but you won’t be disappointed.

Emotional!
No spoilers here! It's hard to write a review on this book without giving away anything so I will just say that Riven is unpredictable, emotional, and unforgettable. I loved Sarah and Leo and felt they made a beautiful couple. There was a twist in the story that I thought I had figured out but I was wrong. This book had me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Katlynn Millions did a great job bringing this story to life. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
