About this listen

A Gotrek & Felix Audiobook

When Gotrek and Felix race to the aid of the besieged dwarf city of Karak Kadrin, they are drawn into a war that threatens the entire Old World, and pitted against a foe who could be the one to fulfil an ancient prophecy.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It's a timeless tale from the Gotrek and Felix archives that sees the intrepid adventurers battle against a warhost of Chaos that seeks nothing less than opening a rift into the heart of Chaos itself.

THE STORY

Gotrek and Felix: unsung heroes of the Empire, or nothing more than common thieves and murderers? The truth perhaps lies somewhere in between, and depends entirely upon whom you ask.

Gotrek and Felix race to the dwarf hold at Karak Kadrin, finding it besieged by one of the grand armies of Chaos under the command of Warlord Garmr. When King Ungrim Ironfist speaks of the legendary 'Road of Skulls' and of the hated foe's attempts to open a portal into the Realm of Chaos, Gotrek senses that a great doom awaits him – though it may not be the one he would choose for himself. As the king's own son leads his army of Slayers to fulfil an ancient prophecy, it seems that Garmr's hour of victory may be at hand.

If you want some Gotrek and Felix fighting chaos worshippers and bickering with other dwarfs this book is for you! Although does forego the character development of the characters from previous works, and doesn’t develop any characters much.

Classic Gotrek and Felix Story, although a little shallower

Great story, as always well narrated but not sure where it fits in continuity still worth a listen

Another great story

Good overall story, and as always a great performance reading it. But Gotrek, didn’t seem like Gotrek in this one.

Gotrek not well written

I liked the story but it’s like Josh didn’t read any of the books before it, he constantly says stuff that goes against the previous books and it references stuff that’s not happened in any of the books I’ve read previously like a fight with Manfred von Carsten! When did that happen ?
Johnathon Keeble knocks the narrating out of the park as usual.

Good if you take it as a stand alone story.

In cohesive story here, without spoiling i feel like 2 people are missing from this book, and it isent cohesive with what happens in the 2 books before this shamanslayer-zombieslayer
Goodbook overall, but in cohesive

it's a good book, but end of last one they were bringing Snorre to Karak Kadrin, together with Felix new girlfriend but at start of this book it's only Gotrek and Felix and no explanation why or where the other two are.. kinda strange...

Where is Snorre?

This book was in my opinion very good. I have binged it in two days. The story flowed well and I found it very easy to listen to.

It’s nice because I have been struggling listening to some of the black library stuff recently so this was a welcome change.

Definitely worth it.

A really good listen.

Characters (from last book)ignored and that's not good for the story .... and, if I'm not wrong, actual wrong Characters referred to, that Gotrek and Felix never meet. That's not good writing.

Slightly disappointing but still a good read.

I found this one of the weakest of the Gotrek and Felix novels. the writing style was not as polished as the other authors (Bill King is still the King as far as I am concerned), and there were a few things that felt inconsistent with the rest of the stories. I don't know where this is supposed to be placed in Gotrek's Saga - I guess it doesn't matter too much, but I was expecting it to follow on from the previous novel as there were some continuing story threads. It doesn't follow and seems to be pretty standalone.

the writing wad a lot of "blah blah," he said. And then he said. And he said. Just didn't feel as good from that point of view. However, as always, Jonathan Keeble steps up and knocks the narration out of the park, he is absolutely incredible (even when the writing is a bit stilted).

I will say that, on a positive for the story, the end was brilliant, very enjoyable. And I also liked hearing about the inner workings of Karak Kadrin and Khornate warbands - things that I've not heard explored in such detail very often. So that was good.

overall, a weaker entry in the series, but considering how good the series is that doesn't make this a bad title at all.

Good ending!
