About this listen

Go beyond the film with a novelization featuring new scenes and expanded material.

As the shadows of the Empire loom ever larger across the galaxy, so do deeply troubling rumors. The Rebellion has learned of a sinister Imperial plot to bring entire worlds to their knees. Deep in Empire-dominated space, a machine of unimaginable destructive power is nearing completion. A weapon too terrifying to contemplate...and a threat that may be too great to overcome.

If the worlds at the Empire's mercy stand any chance, it lies with an unlikely band of allies: Jyn Erso, a resourceful young woman seeking vengeance; Cassian Andor, a war-weary rebel commander; Bodhi Rook, a defector from the Empire's military; Chirrut Ïmwe, a blind holy man; his crack-shot companion, Baze Malbus; and K-2SO, a deadly Imperial droid turned against its former masters. In their hands rests the new hope that could turn the tide toward a crucial Rebellion victory - if only they can capture the plans to the Empire's new weapon.

But even as they race toward their dangerous goal, the specter of their ultimate enemy - a monstrous world unto itself - darkens the skies, waiting to herald the Empire's brutal reign with a burst of annihilation worthy of its dreaded name: Death Star.

An enjoyable listen

Would you listen to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story again? Why?

Yes, I find Jonathan Davis a very good narrator and the story was enjoyable.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story?

...the bit where (spoilers)

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Darth Vader Strikes Back Harder.....

Any additional comments?

Yeah,, why won't audible UK offer me the ability to buy the Marc Thompson performed Unabridged Timothy Zahn 'Thrawn Trilogy' of 'Heir to the Empire', 'Dark Force Rising' and 'The Last Command' Audiobooks that are available to buy from the Audible US store?

Great book

This is a very good book that has an in depth story allowing you to know a lot more about what is going on in the characters minds when they are do certain tasks. It is also the first audiobook that I have listen too that has sound effects. I would definitely recommend buying this book to listen too due to the fact it is a great read.

Okay, enjoyable but not amazing.

I feel like the novelisation misses some things though, K2SO's sarcasm for one is very dull, the Epilogue didn't feel nearly as epic as the film did either. Jonathan Davis does a great job as always, but I wish they'd use more SFX from the films, for example Vaders breathing. Overall: Not necessary for extra snippets of story like other novelisations, it was good, but the film was better I think.

More detailed than the film

What the film glossed over the book fills in, giving you more of a connection to the characters and even gives you some of their final thoughts

A thousand times better than the movie

What did you like most about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story?

Takes the movie and adds heart and warmth and character. This is an amazing book. Tip. Read catalyst, a Rogue One Story first. Not as good, but sets the foundation for most of the character driven action.

What did you like best about this story?

The deapth it gives to the movie. Reading this after seeing the movie is one thing, but this is so well crafted it stands alone as a fantastic sicence fiction novel.

Which character – as performed by Jonathan Davis – was your favourite?

Difficult to say. They are all fleshed out so well

Any additional comments?

Really lovely!!

I came to read this book after rewatching Rouge One recently.
The pacing is great and really what I was looking for in the movie. Getting the thoughts of each of the characters really fleshes them out and makes them all so much more 3D.
I also absolutely loved the narration, every voice being unique and especially the accent for Cassian was amazing. I’d really recommend listening!!

A brilliant listen/read.

Of course it's much of the film, but the way it's portrayed with the amount of detail adds so much more to the characters and story's. I would definitely recommend to avid or novice Star Wars fans.
