Lots of men reviewing this book, so I'll lend my voice. Beautiful reading by the actress who plays the animated Padmé, more talk and less shooting than most Star Wars novels, but that's because Padmé's a diplomat, not a soldier or a Jedi. Interesting story giving more backbone to Padmé's history. I really enjoyed it. Definitely get if you like a deeper look at the characters of Star Wars who sometimes get skirted over in the films.

It was a good book but some of the story was really boring

But it was worth listening to it

As a man, I liked that this story about women was written by a woman. A man would've written this very differently, for sure.
I liked Padme's voice actress is the same actress who voiced her in the Animated Series.
Story's not really exciting... for me at least.

Okay, but skippable.

This was a very good listen and was such an amazing touch for it to be voiced by the clones wars actress. There has been so many details that just make her such a complex character which we did not get in the films

An amazing Inside into the early days as a senitor

i listen to this while reading the book.It gives a beautiful description of Padmès backstory and how she came to be the amazing senator that she was.

Amazing listen

Whilst the story wasn’t massively compelling, it was a great insight into Padme’s life and the role of the royalty on Naboo.

The performance was good however I wish there was more imitation of the well known characters speech patterns. Regardless, it is great to have a Padme novel narrated by the voice of Padme from the Clone Wars.

The epilogue is especially interesting and leads on to the Darth Vader comic series.

Definitely worth a listen, and I’m excited to listen to the prequel and then the sequel - how very Star Wars!

A great insight

ignore all the negative comments. I don't know what they expected, maybe padme whipping out a light saber with sith lord jar jar binks or something, padme was a politician this story is about padme and snippets of other things. this story is very well written and very well read I loved it if you wana see a different side to star wars then this is a good one if you want light saber battles then this is not the one for you

brilliant

find this book to be very long winded. This was not my type of book, found it did not have a lot of Star Wars action to it.

transfer to senator

This book suffers from the same problems as Padme herself - she is a character who manages to accomplish a lot of genuinely important things in the universe and does some really interesting stuff, but still manages to be incredibly boring. This is the only Star Wars book I've purchased that I couldn't finish - the plot is dull and dragging, and the narration by Catherine Taber is a flat monotone with little to no distinction between character voices and essentially no emotion whatsoever. When she DOES attempt a character voice, it generally comes off as unintentionally funny and generally inconsistent. Not a fan, go listen to one of the High Republic books instead.

Not worth it.
