About this listen
The Amazon YA paranormal romance best seller that launched the Runes series introduced listeners to Raine and Torin.
Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father's disappearance, her mother's erratic behavior, and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James - a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and an uncanny way of reading her. Raine is drawn to Torin's dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks, and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can't stop thinking about him. Half the time she's not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.
Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth, the more she uncovers something sinister about him. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology, and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only is she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

Captivating romance
Would you listen to Runes again? Why?
Yes. I found the romance between the two lead characters captivating and never wanted to stop listening! All of the main characters add something different to the story. Torin is an extremely charismatic, magnetic male lead and is the character that, for me, made the book great. I liked it so much I'm now on the fourth book in the series, but this one, so far, is still the best.
Any additional comments?
The narrator was really good, she has a brilliant voice for narration, but she really could have done with an English person or accent coach to help her with Torin's English accent which is a mixture of a proper English accent, a Cockney/East End accent and other times isn't comparable to any kind of English accent. I'm usually not picky with accents but it was distractingly bad at times and that's the reason I didn't give Stephanie Terry five stars for her performance. It didn't stop me from enjoying the book though and it might not be as noticeable for people who aren't English.

Runes
I enjoyed this book but again there appears to be a bit of confusion on the names of relatives Torin says his Fathers name is Roger Declare instead of William which is revealed in later books very disappointing

Terrible narrated
This woman’s voice was loud, she spoke too fast to hear what was being said, ,after ten minutes I had to switch her horrible voice off, I am sorry I bought this audible on this Runes story as this woman’s voice just totally ruined this wonderful story, does the author ever listen to what these speakers are doing to their books..?.
