Critic reviews

"A coherent account of Russia's vibrant history, explaining the complex story of Russian development with great clarity. Vividly illuminates Russia's past and shows how it has contributed to its troubled present." (Peter Waldron, professor of modern history, University of East Anglia)

An Insightful Book

Ascher’s book provides a balanced and very informative view of Russia. Especially some of the possible antecedents for the strife we are witnessing in Ukraine. Well worth purchasing.

sketchy and boring

the most boring and lame history of any country ever. the country is a cancer upon the world, the history of ireland is far more interesting, all they have contributed to the world is surfdone, poverty, alcoholics and brainwashed bunch of missarable boring savages. I feel sorry for the Prof who had to write this. the revelutions weren't revolutions just a re-branding of the same old depressing garbage.
