Summary
The new SAS epic from best-selling military historian Damien Lewis.
We share the triumphs and tragedies of a group of elite soldier trailblazers as they commit daring raids behind enemy lines in 1944, manage an against-the-odds escape to victory and then seek post-war retribution for the terrible murder of their captured comrades.
SAS Band of Brothers is replete with action, peppered with great characters and features two of the most daring escapes of WWII. It ends with the hunted becoming the hunters - a group of men intent on seeking out the Nazis responsible for their brethren's deaths, on an ultra-deniable SAS mission to avenge a war crime.
This is the new best seller from Damien Lewis. It bears all his hallmarks - an epic, unstoppable special-forces narrative based on hitherto unavailable personal testimony and private family archives.

Masterpiece
Great Listen, very interesting, very sad.
The Narrator was excellent … but I don't understand why the FOREIGN accents ... it's weird, sounds like the TV comedy 'ALLO ALLO'. For example, if quoting a German, he uses a German accent.
Local English Accents I can understand.
Even when quoting a newspaper clipping from South-Africa, the Narrator puts on a local accent...but I think that was just him showing off.
They all do it, someone must tell them to stop.

Another fascinating recounting by Damien Lewis
Expertly researched, written and read.
Both riveting and shocking all at the same time. The duty and sacrifice by the SAS, SOE and French resistance is just phenomenal.
The cruelty, abuse and sadistic nature of the way some Germans in the SS treated their captives is sickening and appalling.
It's right that these events are documented in the hope the world will not let this happen again

Good till final third
A really compelling story explained as always by the author very well. The performance could lose the accents. However I got all the way through to the final third and it became very familiar. I even questioned if I had listened to this before??
However the last couple of chapters as the basic outlines of the author’s other “Hunting Nazi” book.
A good listen but if you have a lot of the authors books slightly repeating himself.
