About this listen
Maxwell Morgan has always been a very practical guy. He started working at age fifteen because his foster family was stretched thin. He joined the army right out of high school to earn money for college. Even after getting his first job after college, he kept working the three jobs that let him get there—National Guard infantryman, farmer, and blacksmith.
About nine months into his new job as an HR Generalist, Max’s boss arranged a one-week team-building event for the team. Max and his five attractive, female co-workers boarded the plane for Sheridan, Wyoming, and then things went sideways.
Suddenly, they were going…somewhere else. What's a practical guy to do?

Former Soldier Max has retired for the military and goes into human resources back in the U,S. On a team building trip goes wrong he and his female co-workers look to survive in the Wilderness. This was a really good take on the survival genre as the MC and co-workers are transported back in time into the 3rd centaury during the reign of the Roman Empire, where the group collectively lack the skill to survive.
The narrators did a really solid job with this audiobook, I recently listened to Raven House which was narrated by Jonathan Waters and like that title he was excellent in brining the MC to life. This was my first time listening to Maeve York and thought she did a great job and had a wonderful range for all of the female characters.

It took a looooong time to get to the relatively interesting story. The beginning introduced a bunch of often implausible characters that waffled melodrama (and some unpleasant stuff that should be in a different book).
We then had the time travel and after that the book levelled into just acceptable but a bit dull. Lots of survivalist stuff about how to make a roof and process hunted animals. I was fine with all that.
The steamy stuff is also not so good, but acceptable because it was amusing and fun and might have improved in the rest of the book.
Then the book got stupid and I can't continue. I may pick it up again but I doubt it, I hope I can find better. Disappointed to have wasted a credit (and a few hours).
Apart from the Maeve's German accent (just my opinion), the actors were good and they deserve better material.
A bit Dull but ok and then stupid
