Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Seances, Ouija boards, table tipping, knocking phenomena - all in a day's work for the First Lady of the Paranormal. Yvette Fielding has nerves of steel when facing down her tormentors in the spirit world. Her living-world personal story also reveals a woman of courage and determination, who built success from nothing, following her passion and lifelong curiosity in search of answers to the unexplained.

Yvette was always fascinated with the afterlife, and Buddhist meditation practice opened her up to any spirit who wanted to contact her. This manifested in her first family home. Their TV would switch itself on, and kitchen cupboards would open and close all by themselves. When alone there, Yvette would arm herself with a Samurai sword to confront her unseen visitors.

But it was a harrowing investigation of eerie 800 year-old Michelham Priory where Yvette’s life-changing Most Haunted adventure began, and still continues many terrifying quests and over twenty years later.

Here you’ll walk with Yvette where others fear to tread through chills of the supernatural kind, and she also talks with candid honesty of occasional cold spots she’s encountered in human form. But through all the drops in temperature, the nation’s most celebrated ghost hunter radiates warmth and humour and it’s a joy to accompany her on her incredible journey from child TV star to Most Haunted icon.

Beware sceptics: the Scream Queen's story could change your world view for ever.

Fascinating :)

Loved the audiobook. Yvette and I are not dissimilar ages so lots of parallel timelines. Even her story about her dad and his ‘visitation’ is very similar to the one I had with my dad in 2013 after he passed. Her biography is incredibly interesting and well worth listening to!!

A must for a MH fan.

As you’d expect very well narrated. A well rounded and honest account of YF journey to and experiences of creating and growing MH. Narrated with her passion for the paranormal and very honest self reflection. As a fan it was interesting to hear all of the background politics and challenges they faced. The Derek Accora account as a fan was intriguing and written with honesty and sensitivity. Well done YF!

This book is Brilliant !!

I think I have watched one episode of Most Haunted before listening to this book. I thought it was a bit rubbish to be honest and dismissed it. It was one with Derek Acorah, But after listening to Yvette Feildings story I realise I was probably coming at it from the wrong synicle angle and basing my judgement of DA not the program and its aims. Yvette comes over as such an interesting grounded and thoughtful person who has had to battle for the things she has done. She is a brilliant story teller and I couldnt stop listening. I only remember her from Blue Peter and had no idea of the shenanigans that was going on in the background. I have TOTAL respect for her now !! I wish I could have the certainty of belief in the afterlife and supernatural as she and her husband have. Maybe you only get that if you experience the stuff they have on their investigations. She seems incredibly sincere in the way she describes those experiences and who is to say she is wrong. Get the audio book its Brilliant !!

An Enduring Delight

I've been a fan of Yvette since the Seaview days and have always enjoyed her appearances on a host of shows - in particular Under Offer and of course Most Haunted! In her narration of this memoir, she is as affable, self deprecating, and truly lovely as always - recalling anecdotes with cheeky wit and bags of charm. I'm pleased that Yvette addressed the medium fakery debacle too (no idea things had been so awful off camera for so many series!) as well as her terrible first year with Blue Peter (oof! Ms Baxter had strange ideas on motivation, eh!?) and of course, her great love for Karl and what a unstoppable pair they make. Yvette has been part of my telly landscape since my teens so it's lovely to hear her recall times of sadness, joy and triumphs in her own words. Keep on screaming, Mrs B - you rock!

One of the most honest and truest memoir

I absolutely love this book . Yvette Fielding has given an incredible insight into her life and most haunted . What an inspiring story and a frightening reminder that there is more to this world than people are aware of. Definitely not to try at home . Love her northern humour.
