About this listen

Molly Harper is back with the next wickedly funny, wildly enchanting Mystic Bayou novel - available in audio first!

Sonja Fong isn’t afraid of a little chaos. As director of the League’s research center in Mystic Bayou, a tiny town in Louisiana that’s home to supernatural creatures and humans alike, she’s responsible for making sure things run smoothly. It’s not an easy task when her daily memos include lines like “new equipment is needed because the old equipment was destroyed by a temper tantrum involving dragonfire.”

Her job puts her in the path of Dr. Will Carmody, a mysterious shifter who’s returned to Mystic Bayou after a long absence only to find that he’s now considered an outsider. To make matters worse, the rift - a tear in the fabric of the universe that is leaking supernatural energy into the bayou - is unraveling at an alarming rate. Now Sonja and Will must team up to fix the rift and save Mystic Bayou from certain disaster, all while their own romance is heating up. Can they have a future together while the whole world is falling apart?

Great book!

Loved this book - Sonja and Will have an interesting relationship and it is explored really well in this book. It was great to meet a new species of shifter too. Another great narration job by Amanda and Jonathan. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Getting repetitive

I really enjoy these books, like a lot. The setting, the characters etc. The only thing starting to bug me after book 3 is the repetiveness of the male characters. It's nothing major, just think they're all somewhat written out of the same template, with different add-ons. Idk, like why do they all have to be well endowed to a point worth mentioning? Why do they all exhibit the same possessiveness/jealousy and primal urge to mate for life and have offspring, no matter the species. As said, small things, but it comes off as lazy writing.

Another entertaining story from Mystic Bayou

Mystic Bayou is a great place for magique creatures, their weird shifting powers and pie. This seems to be my go-to books when I have bad headaches. Funny and light, with a touch of mystery, these are great stories to have fun with. They're particularly nice to listen to because both narrators do a wonderful job.

Romance with a slight twist, fun but not great.

The book, from the Mystic Bayou series, is slightly predictable and it didn't take too much to work out what was going on.

I would like the characters have far more depth. There is a sense of formulated plot that I did not find in the earlier stories.

fun but not great.

I want to live in Mystic Bayou

I've listened to every book except the last one and just love Mystic Bayou, yes sometimes the stories are obvious or a little slow but honestly I love the characters and am so enjoying getting further and further into the town and it's residents. The narrators do a great job and I'm in love with the southern accents.

Spoilt by weird accents!

I love this series, I found them as part of the audible plus freebie section, they are striking and very entertaining.

this particular book was the only one I was disapointed in, and not due to the story line!

one minute the main female character was correctly portrayed with a swedish accent by the female narrator, then the male narrator gave her an african accent. I suspect he couldn't do a Swedish one, or genuinely thought he was doing a Swedish one, who knows?
