About this listen

The action-packed second book in the Night Angel series, from international bestseller Brent Weeks - an astonishing and epic tale of magic, violence and revenge.

Kylar has rejected the assassin's life. In the wake of the Godking's violent coup, both his master and his closest friend are dead. His friend was Logan Gyre, heir to Cenaria's throne, but few of the ruling class survive to mourn his loss. So Kylar is starting over: new city, new companions, and new profession.

But when he learns that Logan might be alive, trapped and in hiding, Kylar faces an impossible choice. He could give up the way of shadows forever, and find peace with his young family. Or Kylar could succumb to his flair for destruction, the years of training, to save his friend and his country - and lose all he holds precious.

still my favourite trilogy!

The story gets better and better. this 2nd novel is about acceptance. learning to stand tall and move the next foot forwards. Where you learn the depths of characters you once thought of as despicable and begin to understand them and in a few cases start to love. A cracking 2nd novel from Mr Brent Weeks

What a story!

Excellently write and superbly read! Strongly recommend. Each chapter feels like scene in a well orchestrated series tha ks to all the passion found within the character voices.

Child like writing

I have tried very hard with Brent Weeks over the years and I always reach a point where I just can’t go any further. Main characters that just repeat constant cycles of weakness. New powerful artefacts and magic systems and characters thrown in constantly to the point that they make everything pointless. The ideas and decisions made by characters are just plain stupid almost every time as if they are all children in a school play. Not even going to talk about the love stories.

Some really cool ideas and characters that just leave me too frustrated to bother finishing. Had the same issue with the Stormlight books.

Great narrator though.

So boring I gave up

The performance was good and clear. Decent pace. However I listened to the same chapters over several times because I could not work out what was going on or who was doing what. I was do bored I gave up.

Don't waste your credit

This book jumps about all over the place and the characters are shallow I kept with it but had to pack in 2 hours from the end!
