Summary
A wild band of smoking-hot shifters rescue me from hunters who claim I’m Death’s daughter.
I want to be grateful, but the shifters turn out to be assholes as well, especially Jared, the Alpha Heir and apparently my fated mate.
He’s chosen another, a powerful shifter princess, over a nobody like me. Even worse? He claims I’m a spy for the vampires and drags me to the fortified Shifter City.
After dumping me at a shifter military academy, he thinks he can forget about me. Only he underestimates his hot and heavy lust for me.
And I listen to his sweet, vicious lies and let him act on his urges. Afterward, he goes back to his fiancée, who wants me dead more than the air she breathes.
When I try to escape, Jared punishes me and locks me up. But there’s something he doesn’t know - that not even I know. A formidable vampire god has been hunting for his destined bride for over a century.
Me.
And Marlowe kills anyone who gets in his way.

Wow
I never know what Im going to get with a book by Meg but I know it is going to be a wild and entertaining ride and oh my does she deliver with this one. It made gardening entertaining. Is there a better recommendation for a book. I was happy to weed my garden beds and trim branches just so I could continue listening.
The narration added so much to the story and the characters were brilliant. I am so excited for the next book.

Super entertaining!
Shifter God is a fantastic start to Monsters After Dark, a suspenseful and action-packed fantasy romance series. The combination of Meg Xuemei X's incredible world-building and character development made the story enjoyable and engaging. The storyline is rich, fast-paced, exciting, and pretty entertaining, packed with fascinating supernatural elements. Excellent narration by Victoria Mei; she portrayed the characters and the intensity of the scenes perfectly, making the story more engaging. Shifter God was a very enjoyable paranormal listen, one I'll recommend to the fans of the genre.

wow .. absolutely brilliant
this is utterly brilliant, finally a shifter heroine with grit and back bone who isn't afraid to stand up for herself, her friends and swears like a sailor. I purchased the second book half way through!!! laughed so hard at the humour and was in blind rage at points for her . definitely give this a go

Could only manage 6 chapters DNF
I hoped this would live up to the hype in the reviews but I think they listened to a different book to me because this one’s awful. Save your credit and/or money - this ones being returned
I only managed 6 chapters in, I couldn’t get past the appalling dialogue, lazy plot aids and world building. The character descriptions don’t match what the author is trying to depict and it was impossible to connect with the personalities
The narrator doesn’t seem to help either. Whilst this might not be so bad if reading instead of listening; Ms. Mei’s voices don’t quite hit the mark or the right pitch to match the scenarios and it’s hugely distracting from the main storyline
Which leads me to the heroine(?) Her character is all over the place and though I did try to persevere because Pip is in a confusing, traumatic situation from the get go, its like the author has made up who she is as its been written on the hop with no real direction or plan. Of course, characters can have many aspects to them, but this isn’t a case of a deeply complicated woman with many layers. This is not having clear vision for who she is as a person. What the listener is left with is this contrasting, walking ball of ‘tude disguised as “fiestyness”. Pips not fierce, she’s a belligerent idiot
Side note: why is it so common for women in this genre have to have such a bad attitude? Of course we want to read about strong female leads but they don’t need to be Impulsive and full of contempt
Anyway, take heed potential reader. If you’re easily annoyed by literary tropes, unrealistic scenarios and
plain old bad storytlines, you’ll not enjoy this one
Real shame because the description looked promising
