Summary
A poignant and heartwarming novel about friendship, ghosting, and searching for answers to life’s mysteries.
When Mackenzie, Sunna, and Maude move into a converted rental house, they are strangers with only one thing in common - important people in their lives have “ghosted” them. Mackenzie’s sister, Sunna’s best friend, and Maude’s fiancé - all gone with no explanation.
So when a mangled, near-indecipherable letter arrives in their shared mailbox - hinting at long-awaited answers - each tenant assumes it’s for her. The mismatched trio decides to stake out the coffee shop named in the letter - the only clue they have - and in the process, a bizarre kinship forms. But the more they learn about each other, the more questions (and suspicions) they begin to have. All the while, creepy sounds and strange happenings around the property suggest that the ghosts from their pasts might not be all that’s haunting them....
Will any of the housemates find the closure they are looking for? Or are some doors meant to remain closed?
Quirky, humorous, and utterly original, Sorry I Missed You is the perfect listen for anyone who has ever felt haunted by their past (or by anything else).

Good story, read well, but…
Pretty good storyline. Interesting characters with lots of skeletons! Three women, who may never have been natural friends, form a friendship through a commonality. All three are fairly plausible characters.
My only gripe is the narrative is grating at times. One voice doesn’t fit all, although the narrator seems to give them similar ones, but, then I guess it can be difficult for a female to produce a convincing male voice that doesn’t sound like a female trying to speak in a deep male voice! 🤔
That said, I did enjoy the story and will look out for more by this author.

Ghosting
Three unlikely women of varying ages and stages in their lives go to rent rooms in a property that has a reputation of being haunted. All three women have one thing in common, they have all been ghosted.
One day a hand delivered note appears asking about a meeting at a cafe and it says ‘sorry I missed you’ as the note is sodden and is barely legible they each feel it could mean closure and it could apply to each of them. So they all decide to go to the cafe daily at the specified time and wait it out.
It all seems like a wasted task as no one appears yet each one of them feels compelled to carry on the ritual daily. Lots of misunderstandings, comedic and bittersweet moments happen and as they get to know one another they form an unlikely bond.

started well then........
I listened to this because I thought the storyline was quirky in a good way. The audiobook started off well, interesting and a 'page turner' but after a while the narrative just droned on. I found myself asking 'Alexa' how much longer in the book !
'Sorry I Missed' You did gain momentum towards the end and there was some closure but the ending left me a bit disappointed. I feel there should of been another chapter rounding everything off. All in all not a bad book but I wouldn't need to 'read' it again !
