About this listen

It's the 25th century, and the American President has taken over the world. Meanwhile, after a cleaner unplugged his cryogenic freezing machine by accident, Detective Inspector Capstan wakes up to find that he's been in a state of suspended animation for more than 400 years. As he's forced to adjust to life in the future, he finds himself reinstated as a policeman, and together with the great-great-great-great-grandson of his former subordinate, Sergeant Dewbush, he's put on the case of a missing cow.

Great start to a series

This book is a brilliant start to the series and very well narrated.

The book follows on from the previous series, except it is now set in the 25th Century where Capstan has been cryogenically frozen and then defrosted by mistake.

The story follows Capstan and Dewbush as they investigate the theft of a cow, which has been taken to one of the moons of Jupiter.

Very funny book which I highly recommend

Truly awful narration.

I had read all the Space Team books so decided to give the audible versions a go. They weren't quite as funny as the books but were still excellent. What next then? Well, Space Police book one was quite decent and so I got the audible version which was only £2.99 because I own the kindle version. It seemed like a no brainer. I only listen to them when I am walking the dogs for an hour in the morning anyway.
So why only 1 star? Jack Dundon, the narrator, is awful! Truly awful. The first thing I noticed was how effeminate he sounds. It doesn't matter how tough the character, he will sound effeminate, effeminate and very middle 'clarss'. He occasionally attempts a working class accent, which just comes across as middle class, but a little bit louder. I've only met 5/6 characters so far and they all sound virtually the same. And possibly even worse is his constant need to make every sentence sound like a paragraph. I have listened to slightly over 1 hour and that is enough, I've read the book, I will make do with that. I'm just grateful it only cost £2.99, and that was too much in the end.
