Rosie is fairly certain that there's nothing wrong with putting a love spell on a foreign prince. At least she hopes there's not, because such a drastic measure is necessary in order for her to ensure that the perfect fairy tale romance she's dreamt about her entire life includes her own prince charming. As the heroine in her story, she won't be deterred by well-meaning friends, royal betrothals, hungry dragons, or the intriguing guard who stands in her way.

Luckily, Rosie has access to an enchanted bakery and a recipe book of spells, one of which will ensure she'll win the royal heart she desires. Unfortunately, no story is complete without a few obstacles, and Rosie's comes in the form of a most formidable foe - a stoic guard whom Rosie may or may not be developing feelings for, one who is committed to thwarting her at every turn. But nothing will stand in the way of Rosie's happily ever after. After all, what harm can a simple love spell do?

Was it better than the first ... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+⭐, Now embroiled in the palace and village affairs. I’m familiar with our beloved, alluring forest that reads hearts. I’m thrust back to those feelings, once again, of my Enyd Blyton Days when the children would get to the top of the faraway tree and find a new land above the clouds. Or even the Narnia serious. I’m so thrilled that in my months, maybe years, quest to find this type of book, I’ve landed on Camille Peters, and the voice-over artist (something I’ve always wanted to do) fits the role perfectly. This took me the day to read (Thankfully, I am currently bedridden after surgeries, so I have that luxury, and these books are so calming, taking me on a sabbatical from the things in life I can't change!) I can’t wait for the next 🫶🥰

Enchantingly intertwined charm and romance.

I almost didn't finish listening to this, the main character is so absolutely awful. This is supposed to be a young woman, and she behaves like a selfish, delusional child to the point where it's unrealistic that the other characters can stand her. Obsessed with her 'fairytale', doesn't care how much she has to manipulate other people (right down to love spells!), dismissive of those trying to help her. If this wasn't part of a series, I'd have bailed out after the first hour.

I know these light-reading fairytale style stories can be a bit superficial, but I shouldn't be spending the entire thing hoping the main character does NOT get a happily ever after.
