About this listen

"I’ve always been interested in women, so why can’t I stop thinking about Tyler?"–Gage

Buying a house was supposed to be a good investment. Too bad I bit off more than I can chew. Between my job at the bank and my utter lack of home improvement skills, I’m in way over my head. Then a friend suggests I hire a handyman. Enter Tyler.

Tyler is down on his luck after a recent divorce, and we strike a deal that he fixes my house while I give him room and board as part of his pay. He’s the perfect roommate, amazing at his job, and he quickly becomes one of my closest friends. But there’s something there, something I’ve never felt for another man before.

Tyler and I both thought we were straight, but that doesn’t stop the attraction that grows between us. Is it possible I found the person who could finally show me what love is?

Straight Battle is double bi-awakening, opposites attract, hurt/comfort story featuring a former soldier with trust issues, a divorced handyman looking for a connection, a found family, and accidental feels. It is book one in the Heroes at Home series, but can be listened to as a standalone.

Fun listen

This book was sweet and entertaining from start to finish. An easy listen, not that deep. I don't usually enjoy "straight to gay" books where a bunch of other people are also gay, but this one was fun regardless.

Good book

I really enjoyed the book. It was a fun and easy listen, only a little internal and external angst. I liked the journey of the MCs. I also liked the narrators. They were very good with the voices and emotions of all characters. I would like to hear more about Gage and Tyler.

I loved everything about this book/ audiobook!
The pacing was absolutely perfect!
The build up of want and tension between the two of them whilst they were working on a friendship growing was the exact kind of slow burn I love.

Them both going to friends/ family to help them figure out their thoughts was so pure and mature. (yes I know they’re in their 30’s but they’re in uncertain territory and probably both felt like young teens again figuring out how to be intimate with someone. It must be scary as hell to go all your life thinking you’re one way then suddenly feel attraction to someone of the same sex) it was all handled so well and even when we get the first kiss, they don’t just immediately jump into bed/ sleep together 👏🏼 Yes 🙌🏼

They both give off demisexual vibes to me personally but that wasn’t mentioned and some people choose not to put a label on themselves and that’s absolutely fine so I love that they could both eventually accept that they just fell in love with a human being that they have a deep emotional connection to 🥺🫂

I just loved that they were both new to these feelings and working through it together but also the communication is perfect too! I know that Tyler struggles at first to be open about his thoughts but Gage really helped make him feel more confident and comfortable and it just made me love them both even more.

Their families/ found families are adorable and I loved all their interactions together.

The spicy 🌶️ scenes were so freaking hot! I had to take breaks because the narrators voices are just…… 🥵🔥😮‍💨🫠 faultless. Tyler’s narration was perfectly sweet/ gentle for his character and Gages has that lower/ husky tone that just made me swoon but then the flirting and sex scenes from both men were literally the best I’ve ever heard and I’ve listened to over 200 MM audiobooks

I love their love, they’re perfect for each other and got a well deserved HEA. I wish I had found this book when it was released but I’ve just noticed there are two other books after this one so hopefully we get more Tyler and Gage in those too 🤞🏼🤞🏼

narration was great

You know what, this wasn't my favourite but I have read/listened to others from this author that were amazing, this just wasn't really for me

A little repetitive

While I enjoyed both characters journeys the situational writing was some what repetitive, but a fun book regardless.
