About this listen
A life in hock.
Seven years ago, Logan Conner and his legend tripper college roommate stumbled into the middle of a ghost war. Logan escaped. Trent did not. Guilt has driven Logan to hunt for answers ever since—not only for why Trent was trapped, but how to return and save him.
On the verge of abandoning the search as hopeless, Logan discovers the solution at last thanks to folklorist Riley Morrel, the man he never expected to fall in love with, and the man he’d do anything to keep safe, including leaving him behind.
A life on hold.
When Logan disappeared in a puff of motorcycle exhaust, Riley’s life took a nosedive. After dropping out of school, he’s not entirely sure it’s not still diving. Sure, he has a job—one that’d send his thesis advisor screaming. Still, there are perks to his gig as the researcher for paranormal investigation show Haunted to the Max: He’s in the ideal position to propose projects for the team to tackle.
Like their latest episode in Portland, for instance, where Logan just happens to be bartending. If nothing else, confronting the big jerk will give Riley some closure.
A life’s last hour.
But as the two men take tentative steps toward each other again, they begin to realize that their relationship, the shoot, and Logan’s quest to free Trent are hopelessly entangled with one tragic day at the riverside, over a century and a half in the past.
And when the smoke finally clears? Not everyone will walk away.
Stumptown Spirits is a second-chance, opposites-attract, supernatural suspense romance featuring a TV show one step past jumping the shark, a narcissistic TV personality, a craven ex-ghost, annoying bosses, interfering (but well-meaning) friends, personal redemption, and, of course, an HEA.
Note: This book was previously published. It has been lightly revised and re-edited, but the story remains the same.

Enjoyable!
4 Stars!
I really liked Riley, seeing him gain his confidence back and become the hero was a thing of beauty. Now Logan was another matter altogether. I really didn't see what Riley saw in him, or what hold Logan had in him. He was a j*rk for most of the story and I just wanted to strangle him for how he treated Riley.
Joel Leslie did a great job with the narration. I particularly enjoyed his voice for Riley, although I can't say I liked Logan's as much, but that might have been because of my dislike for him. *shrugs*
While I wasn't as onboard with the romance as I would've liked, I was completely captivated by the plot. It was very interesting and it kept me at the edge of my seat until the end and I have no trouble recommending it.

Paranormal activities
I absolutely loved this book.
The world building was amazing and I definitely enjoyed all the spooky, paranormal twists and turns.
Logan was definitely not my cup of tea.
I absolutely wanted to smack him throughout the book because of his high handed behavior towards Riley.
Riley is the sweetest cinnamon roll and I hated how he just let his life fall apart after Logan pulled his disappearing act.
Joel Leslie did an amazing job narrating and bringing these characters to life.

Fantastic book! I loved it
I absolutely adored this book! It was such a great paranormal adventure! I really enjoyed the ghosts plotline. It was unique and very interesting and full of twists and moments that made me gasp in surprise. Very fast paced book, I was hooked from chapter one.
I absolutely adored Riley. He's one of the the most endearing and lovable main characters I've ever read about. I fell in love with him immediately and I was rooting for him. The narrator did a fantastic job voicing all the characters and bringing them to life and especially Riley. He was perfect. Excellent audiobook production. Logan was also a great protagonist. I was intrigued by him and I wanted to know his motives.
I loved his chemistry between him and Riley and I wanted the two of them to be happy and together. Logan was such a protective and honorable man. The side characters were also very interesting.
I adore every minute of this audiobook and I highly recommend it.

I wanted to shake Logan!
Alright, normally I adore EJ Russell' books, but this one was a bit of a disappointment to me. I found Logan annoying and therefore couldn't really get into the story. I like the paranormal aspects of the story but when you want to shake some sense into one of the mc's the whole book, it's difficult to get into the romance part of the story. Logan is very stubborn and then he calls Riley stubborn near the end of the book 🤦
Joel Leslie was awesome as always, and a big part of why I managed to finish the book.
this is of course only my opinion, I'm sure plenty of readers will love this one.

The first class narration.
Even though I liked the premise of the book, I found the story a little confusing. It was difficult to understand the dynamic of the relationship between Logan and Riley. On occasion Logan was quite nasty and 'off' with Riley. The story was entertaining, narrated beautifully by Joel. Unfortunately, the relationship between the two MCs often took me out of the story. Even though Riley offered a solution to the situation, Logan refused to entertain the idea. Usually I love Ms Russell's work but this one didn't quite hit the mark 🙁
