Summary

A nation at war, and summoners in love: things are about to get messy.

Samuel Eamon just barely escaped capture from the Justicars, but his freedom almost cost him everything. Without his own name, without the future he always yearned for, things seem bleak for the young Summoner.

Or, at least, they would...if he didn't have her. Samuel and Aurora retreat into anonymity, posing as a young married couple working for a rural wing of the Mysterium. For now, their lives are a romantic pastoral fantasy brought to life, but both of them know that won't last for long.

The drums of war beat louder and closer to home, and the increasing monster attacks threaten even the new railways connecting the cities of Terth. These are problems that Samuel and Aurora will have to face...ready or not.

Awesome!

Annabell and Virgil does it yet again!
This is the forth book written by the duo that I've listened to and it is a wonderful time, and yet another example of why they are some of the best authors in the genre!

As good as the first, if not better

Really enjoyed this book, the narration was excellent and it felt as if the book was far too short, in that way anything good feels when you get to the end. Hope there's another one.

another ever expanding romp!

the next chapter takes our heroes from self imposed exile and into intrigue and war. the tale expands on Samuels understanding of his powers and his harem of succubi while also introducing other potential love interests

the larger story of war and conspiracy is touched on but feels slower paced that the personal take of Samuel and Aurora. the story slow burns a lot until a quite fast paced denouement that I feel could have been a bit longer, but overall leaves things set up for the next story.

I look forward to book 3, where hopefully we start to see some of the subtle plot threads expand. and some of the larger scope villains actually get dealt with.
