Summary
Andrew "Zyori" Campbell's journey from college student to successful Dota 2 caster was not an easy path. It took determination, perseverance, and repeatedly recommitting to his dream for him to navigate his way through the esports industry.
In Surviving Esports, Zyori reveals both the personal and professional development required to hack it in a highly competitive landscape. Zyori's story criss-crosses the globe, taking us around the world, through cyber-bullying, a life-changing haircut, and possibly the most poorly planned Dota 2 tournament in history.
At times charming and at others painful, Zyori never holds back in his reflections on becoming a successful commentator for multiple games. If you've ever wondered what it takes to make it in esports, this audiobook provides unparalleled insights.

Honest, fascinating, and inspiring.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. As a Dota and Moonduck fan (+ excessive consumer of audiobooks) it seemed worth a try.
Frankly, I was blown away with how interesting this was. I finished it in a weekend :)
Honest. Much of this book was very personal, and describes difficult times in his life. While more dramatic, I definitely related to some of them. it was fascinating listening about his personal and professional growth from a pleb like us, to the highest tier of talent.
Fascinating. I started Dota in 2015, so a lot of the history was fresh to me. I had never heard of sniff sniff, and actually didn't realize Zyori has such a hand in the early BTS. This history of the game I now love was amazing, a window into all I missed.
Inspiring. through it all Zyori shows one thing above all, a passion for his work. He lost it in places, from being overloaded or by working with the wrong people. He never gave up though, and always found it again. It surprising how much I related to some of the themes of the book, seeing the high and lows of his career was a real mirror to some of my experiences. Through it all, he always found his way back to that Passion, there were tough times but that drive always brought him back. Then finally all that work payed off, and look at him now.
p.s I really hope Slacks comes through and does a read through :)
