Summary

Drowning in the murky waters of the mafia, I’m determined to find a way out.

I have my sights set on becoming a film producer and won’t let anything or anyone stand in my way. Then my mother marries a retired Godfather, and I get the head of the Greek mafia as a stepbrother.

Nikolas Stathoulis is set on ruining my well-laid plans. His ruthless reputation has me running for the safety of my apartment.

But he’s always there. On campus. In my apartment. Expecting me to play by his rules. If only I can ignore his godlike features and stop my heart from doing cartwheels at the sight of him.

Greek God? Pretty much.

But he’s rude, demanding, and hell-bent on making my life a misery.

Two can play this game…right?

From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Michelle Heard comes a standalone Greek mafia romance.

This book is intended for mature listeners.

Beautifully written

Beautifully written.. My first time reading/listening to Michelle Heard. The narrators bought it to life. I loved that it wasn’t a typical enemies to lovers. The characters were flawless.

Excellent.

This is the first book I've ever read, that has been written by Michelle and if I'm honest, I wish I had come across her books before.

As the first book of The Sinners Series, it's an excellent book to have started with and right now, I'm annoyed doing this review, as if rather just get stuck into the next one 😂😂

It's a story based around the head of the Greek mafia and his soon to be step-sister. It's also about the love that might blossom, should she ever get over her anxieties and if he can stop threatening her at each meeting!!

Tess also has issues with severe anxiety, due to her most formative years being abused. Due to this abuse she suffers with body dysmorphia and a terror of confrontation!!

Nikolas is the head of the family and also the head of the mafia. At his first meeting with Tess, two weeks before their parents are to marry, he comes in covered in blood. This instantly puts Tess on edge!!

Because of this, when they are finally introduced to each other, although Nikolas is cleaned and wearing a clean shirt, Tess refuses to shake his hand. This of course has Nikolas threatening her about the disrespect she has just shown him!!

So begins their relationship filled with animosity, which only gets worse, the more they see each other. Right until it finally comes to a head!! Can they ever work through this?? Well to know you've got to read the book 😋😋

Through all of that, they have a war brewing with the Sicilian mafia, as if they don't have enough going on. And then Nikolas arranges the fact that Tess is now to marry on the coming Saturday to his cousin.

I mean, just what does he thinks is going to happen?? Men huh?? 🤦🤦

On Audible narrating for Tess is Kelsey Navarro and for Nikolas is James Anderson Foster. Neither I've come across before and they do an excellent job.

They bring all the characters to life, giving them an endearing quality....yep even Nikolas.

As much as Nikolas is a jerk at times, when it comes down to it, he has a good heart and James manages to bring that to the forefront.

Anyway I recommend book and audio without any doubt and trust me it will be worth your while. So don't waste time and enjoy 😇😇

Absolutely amazing

When Tess’s mother marries the ex boss of the Greek mafia she can’t let the mafia customs affect her she won’t become a mafia princess. What she didn’t count on was her stepbrother Nikolas now head of the mafia trying to dictate her every breath . Love love loved this book Nikolai and Tess were perfect and I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series.

Dark and delicious Greek Mafia King ❤️🔥

He's an alpha, he's the king and no one tells him what he can and can't do. I love the chemistry between Tess and Nikolas. Tess hasn't had it easy, she suffers from anxiety and Nikolas doesn't help her anxiety levels in the beginning. Things soon change and Even Nikolas can't deny the chemistry. The book ends on a high and Tess deserves happiness.

Slow beginning

Nicolas and Tess relationship starts like a typical mafia love story .Tess working hard to finish her degree with one very weak mother not giving her daughter the love and support. Nicholas rules everything around him.

There are crime families in every country so don’t let the comment about Greek mafia deter your imagination.

Eventually the book comes to life, full action and adventure,

In my opinion,…in the series book 2 and 4 had better plot and I enjoyed the book from beginning to end.

Underwhelmed!

I picked this book up as I am going to a book fair and thought I'd read some of the works of authors who are due to attend.

Well, what can I say but that I was totally underwhelmed and, as usual don't understand the 5 * reviews!

Personally, I haven't heard of Greek mafia based in Vancouver and step-siblings allowed to marry in the Greek Orthodox Church, both issues being very doubtful.

The story started off really well. I liked Nikolaus but I do wish authors would delve more into the mafia world if this is what they are writing about, and not only concentrate on the romance.

So far as Tess was concerned, I wanted to know more of her childhood and how her mother met Nikolaus' dad and why he was now the mafia boss.

The romance was good and the tiny bits of drama were fun but not intense. I kept thinking something is about to happen and it didn't 🤔

I suppose this is what happens when you put down an excellently researched book and then pick one up which is simply mediocre.

I won't be continuing with the series and definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Pity.

The narration was good, however, by #KelseyNavarro (although she sounded much older than 21) and #JamesAndersonFoster, who is new to me, was excellent as Nikolaus.
