About this listen

The Destiny’s Crucible series chronicles the incredible adventure of Joseph Colsco, a college student of no particular importance who is thrust into an unimaginable fate by an accident that couldn’t happen - but did. Cast naked on the planet Anyar, he forges a new life for himself and rises to prominence and responsibilities he would otherwise never have imagined. However, much is left undone and uncertain.

For fans who finished the first four installments, many questions were left unanswered and many stories left untold. This collection of short stories and novellas addresses some of the questions, expands previous books, and points to future directions. The anthology begins not on the planet Anyar but on Earth, with the aftermath of the improbable accident that starts Joseph Colsco on his new life.

This was a another great read. Absolutely love this series of books. So much so, I have listened to them all three times each and still enjoy as much as the first time. So engrossing, I have laughed, cried, been angry sad. I have even found it educational. Never have I read a book and been so immersed in the story. Story is very well written. Please write more and never stop. 😊👍🏾

I NEED MORE

While waiting for the next instalment in Joe Colsco's new life and the future of Anyar, this book fills in nicely.

As there was more one survivor of the air collision that precipitated this series, we are given brief glimpses into their lives post collision, one at least being on Anyar (and the basis of Book 6 in the series), and also, how we Earthlings reacted to the collision. In addition, we follow the lives of a number of Anyarians who get caught up in the events of the time. In all, it is an interesting mix of stories that fills in the Anyarian milieu, and I, for one, and happy that Thorensen decided to write it.

If you are mainly interested in the continuation of the saga, then you might be disappointed with these short stories (as a number of reviewers seem to be saying). I am not.

Davis continues his excellent rendition of the story.

A very good fill-in book in the series

there are are couple of chapters with the potential of a relay good read but this gets left behind at the the beginning and then there is a whole lot of nothing then it ends.

Nothing New

The beginning of the book isn't that interesting, but the complete story is worth it.

The end is beter than the beginning.

If you are a fan of the series this book will satisfy some of your "next book" needs. However, the overall story isn't moved that much. Its very much a filler book.

Filler stories that contribute to the world of Anyar

As above, a quarter of the chapters was a complete joke! just got into it when it ended!!

The last book was 53 chapters and this one 13!

Olan is a Gifted story teller and these books have been amazing in their scope and depth. I truly look forward to returning to Anyar in the future.

loved it

I understand why Olan decided to write Tales of Anyar, but it probably would have been better as an extension of some character arcs, like Yozef and Akuyin which were great, I think the introduction of expanding on the initial plane collision was a good exploration and the introduction of Michael was interesting, but the other short stories... nah would have been perfectly content with those being left out. I'd have rather found out what Carnigan did in his past and also some more narrative to the 'Watchers' specifically Harlie.

Great to answer some questions, but wishy washy...

Do not listen to bad reviews...its a must read...if your on book 4 then your well invested in the whole story...

An easy 5 stars...

This was going so well then with three great plot lines. Then the story switched away from this great start and it seems the author had run out of ideas and had to fill the book with anything just to meet a deadline.
Very disappointing after the high quality of the previous 4.

Great start but fails after that.
