About this listen
Clive Merrison and Michael Williams star as Holmes and Watson in this collection of stories from the unique fully dramatised BBC Radio 4 canon, based on Arthur Conan Doyle's original short stories.
The 12 dramatisations are 'A Scandal in Bohemia'; 'The Red-Headed League'; 'A Case of Identity'; 'The Boscombe Valley Mystery'; 'The Five Orange Pips'; 'The Man with the Twisted Lip'; 'The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle'; 'The Adventure of the Speckled Band'; 'The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb'; 'The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor'; 'The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet'; and 'The Adventure of the Copper Beeches'.
In these 12 stories, Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson investigate a compromising photograph, a murder case with Australian connections, a disreputable opium den, a Christmas goose, a ruined ancestral estate, a disastrous wedding day, a house with frightening secrets and several other baffling circumstances.
Among the large supporting cast are Sarah Badel, Andrew Sachs, James Grout, James Wilby, Sam West, Stephen Tompkinson and Imogen Stubbs.

The perfect and definitive Holmes
A collection of cleverly abridged Sherlock Holmes stories superbly acted by Clive Morrison and Michael Williams. These are a joy to listen too capturing a golden age of radio drama

Great Adaptations
Clive Merrison and Michael Williams are a brilliant pairing. The adaptations are of excellent quality in production, acting and script. With each episode my enjoyment multiplied with Merrison now holding 2nd place in my list of the best Holmes portrayals. I'll definitely be listening to the rest.

Loved it
The story is excellent & brilliantly narrated by a full cast with the excellent Clive Merrison as Sherlock Holmes. Michael Williams also does a commendable job as Doctor Watson. The one downside for me is the total lack of chapter headers so you know where to jump in if you want to listen to a specific story. This has 180 chapters which makes it extremely difficult to find one story when you want to - complaint over.

Definitive
To say these adaptations are the best still feels like an understatement. This quality will never be bettered. Monumental.

Great stories, well told
Good characterisation. I particularly enjoyed Watson being portrayed as sensible, rather than a buffoon. Loved Sherlock's laughter! Chapters were very short - perhaps Audible could invent a way of specifying 1 or 2 chapters to play, rather than a time.

Fantastic stories but ...
Definitely needs a proper index not just chapter numbers as it's very hard to find the start of a story.

Loved it
I really loved this book. The collection of short cases as seen through the eyes of Dr Watson. The clever methods Holmes uses to sleuth out the answers and the great acting and sound design. Highly recommend.

My son and I loved it.
Finding ourselves with a long journey to work and school, my young son and I have been working our way through classic literature and this month was the turn of Sherlock Holmes. We have really enjoyed the stories, although they haven’t quite had the test of time in some instances they have been a pleasure to listen to not least because of the fabulous car

Brilliant !!!
I really enjoyed this book, it is not my usual choice of books and I fancied a change of pace. It was very gripping and enjoyable, so much that I now want to get the other sherlock holmes tales in the series...

Excellent adaptation of Sherlock Holmes
The best cast, arrangement and drama of Sherlock Holmes in audio format.
I absolutely loved every minute of my listening and intend to buy the rest of the series.
