Summary
I walk into the bar with my pack, and I scent her straight away.
She’s lying behind the counter with blood trailing from an injury to her head. My desire to protect her stuns me almost as much as her beauty.
But it’s the smell of her blood that stuns me the most—it’s something not quite human.
When she wakes up, her fear tells me all I need to know. She definitely thinks she’s mortal.

I make my pack watch over her while she heals, and she’s surprised I want to protect her. It's obvious she hasn't had good experiences with shifters in the past, but I intend to show her I'm different.
I also need time to find out the truth about her, including why she's being hunted by our kind for reasons I’m yet to understand.

Cliffy ahead
So overall I liked the story but it's REALLY long (21+ hrs) and unfortunately the other books in the series are not on audio. I gave it 4* because there were a few editing issues with repeated sentences, the narrator did a great female voice (her being female) but there wasn't enough distinction for the male voice and in a dual POV, you really need that when listening. If it wasn't for the chapter titles stating the POV, you could easily mix them up.
Lastly, as much as I like long books, I really felt this one would have benefitted from an editor. There were lots of unnecessary story that didn't move the overall arc along. Not so much as fluff or filler but just scenes that could have been edited down or removed. I mean I didn't need hours and hours of angst ad nauseam.
With all that said, I like the new/old take on werewolves and shifters, hidden bloodlines and PNR in general. Nice job 👍

Best book I've listened to in a long time
I've listened to a lot of shifter, vampire, fay books and most of them are just porn in every chaoter! this book on the other hand actually has an intriguing story, full of suspens, love, and in some areas funny. you do get a few see scenes but a few is ok.
thank you for restoring my faith in shifter stories 🙏 ❤️

Absolutely amazing
This is a fantastic book. With a gripping storyline and very well written characters I couldn’t put it down. The performance is perfect! MK has given these characters their personalities. Great job guys.

Really love the characters but this book in over 20 hours could have been 12-15 if you not always have to know what breakfast and how it taste and all the feelings over and over and usually the same feelings. Love the book from Roxie Ray normally but this one I started to jump 30 sek here and 30 sec here. I hoped this one was all of them but one more and then one more that's not out yet. Have to think about if I'm goin to spend 1 more credit or 2 just to get to the end

Long winded in parts
Well written book but parts very long winded. Mixed feelings. Glad I got to the end and set up great for the next book but lacks any real excitement to it. Found myself zoning in and out.

Good start
loved the story and had amazing promise at the start, but got bored after a while and did not keep my interest, enjoyed the first part and would recommend that bit!!
