A sorry tale of prejudices
A very strong story about the tragic facts of life for the different communities living in modern Bethlehem where quarrels and rivalries abound. Sadly, it seems, even the various religious sects at the Manger Church cannot agree and are suspicious of each other.
There is a trail of bodies, senseless killings. History teacher Abu Rames feels forced out of the classroom to try and prove that his old pupil is not an Israeli collaborator.
Matt Rees brings to life the hardships, difficulties and uncertainties of life in Israel, especially for the Palestinians on the West Bank. An exciting story with an excellent narrator introducing a very human and humane amateur detective.
