Enter a world of wonder with an instant classic from comedian, actor and bestselling children's author, Ben Miller!
Harrison tries his best to be good. He doesn’t steal, he always shares with his sister and he never cheats at board games, but Harrison also has a BIG flaw . . . He can't control his temper!

So when he’s given a black hole instead of a balloon at a party, Harrison jumps at the chance to get rid of everything that makes him cross. But when it’s not just things he hates that are disappearing into the black hole but things he loves, too, Harrison starts to realize that sometimes you should be careful what you wish for...

An out-of-this-world adventure about twists of fate, time travel and troublesome black holes, Ben Miller's stunning storytelling is brought to life with beautiful illustrations from Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini.

Ben Miller does it again

We read our 1st Ben Miller book at Christmas ( the Christmas Elf) and after enjoying it so we decided to gibe his other books a go in audio book form. my 8yr old and 6yr old (boy and girl) absolutely loved this book. we are no listening to " The day I felt into a fairytail" and that were so excited to hear the names again.
Highly recommended, all his book tbh.

Temper temper! Science-based wish fulfilment story

I was impressed with Miller's first book for children, competent and assured Christmas story, and was keen to see his science background utilised for this new plot. It was not a disappointment.

A young man, pretty good on the whole, has a bit of a weakness - a really, really bad temper. Harrison is given a very unusual balloon at a party, it's a black hole. For someone who would just love to make the things that annoy him vanish, it could be the perfect gift... though readers may quickly see the Midas-like flaw in this plot.

School bullies... food he hates... the scientific consequences of black holes are considered. And how to fix things is brought into the plot in a fairly mature way, not a simple 'and then he woke up' happy ever after.

I love children's books that use real science, concepts that make young people think, into their work. This made a fairly quick read (less than 3 hours as an audiobook) but was quite a busy story.

A moral tale with a message. A flawed protagonist with a lesson to learn. The audio format suited the story and children won't struggle to listen or keep track of what's going on. The author, as an experienced actor, is engaging to listen to.

Great choice for rational thinkers and questioners, aged 8-11.

With thanks to Nudge Books for providing a sample Audible copy.
