About this listen

An arranged marriage leads to passionate love in this classic Scottish historical romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice is Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison - a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec aches to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie has vowed never to surrender to a man she considers a highland barbarian.

Alec is everything Jamie’s heart has warned her against - an arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks speak of savage pleasures. While Kincaid’s scorching kisses set fire to her blood, she is determined to resist him...until one rapturous moment quells their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatens to conquer her senses...

Great book

This is completely different to the books I normally listen to, and I haven’t really listened to historical romance before, but this was a brilliant surprise. Good characters, pace and plot and was very enjoyable, and good narration too. Would definitely recommend for people who want to see if historical romance might be their thing.

great highlander story

loved the feisty female lead character story was full, I laughed and cried a lovely story but given it was mainly Scottish (Ellie Newland springs to mind) would have been better to have a Scottish narrator putting on an English accent that vice versa.
Rosalyn did a better job at narration than in her more recent books I've listened to but contrary to most people I find her jarring to listen to.

Gosh I loved this story with all my heart! 💕

I absolutely ADORED this story! I can’t believe it was written in 1989! The narrator was so wonderful. She’s got such a gentle voice and her comedic timing was so good. I constantly found myself laughing. I had such a wonderful experience listening to this story and will certainly revisit this in the future. Do give it a listen ✨

Beautifully read, wonderfully written

A wonderful romance, that takes it's time to realise it is one. Alec Kincaid and his dutiful, subborn and headstrong bride Jamie, are thrown together to please their king after her father decides not to pay his taxes, but pay to keep his favourite, pretty, youngest daughter close at hand as his personal servant. She has learnt to take care of him, their home and fate from a fatherly stable hand, lends to her being married to the fierce some lord Alec of Scotland. It seems everyone will loose, until Alec trusts his English bride in his own castle, and her true character comes through. But not everyone is pleased with this, and there is a n old enemy waiting for her in Scotland, who believes she shouldn't be there at all.

Loved every minute of this story, and beautifully narrated in soft Scottish tones that keep you listening.

An enjoyable listen!

This was the enchanting tale of Jamie and Alec, humorous at times , made even better by the skills of the narrator. I have heard her narrate other books especially in this genre but feel she did a particularly excellent job with this one!
