As the darkness of the war slowly consumes the galaxy, those who still serve the Throne are faced with a struggle for their survival and the continued existence of everything they hold dear. ....another collection. Though much better than some of the others, this does start feeling a little bit like filler, delaying progress in the Heresy. The Space Wolf and Alpha Legion story stands out as one of the better shorts of the series. Overall another for completeists only. Worth a credit, but one you can skip if your in a hurry to get to the siege. Narrator was great as always.

If you enjoy the politics between the Mechanicum and Terra then there are two great stories in here for you. I quite enjoy the contrasts between the two, it makes for an interesting listen if a little repetitive.
The wolves fighting the alpha legion in the Alexis Nebula was an incredible listen, crazy space battle shananigans, heart felt moments between beloved characters and an incredibly compelling sacrifice with a very cool twist to end it. If that story was the only one in the book it would have gotten 5 stars.
Perpetuals are boring to me and don't really add much to the setting. but I understand that others may enjoy them, the short story was well written and added to Ol Persons story but like I say I'm not interested.
Overall a solid HH anthology.

Another solid instalment to the series, a compelling and deeply immersive experience. Would recommend to anyone.

It is a bit painful to listen to the other short stories which are written by authors who have no business writing anything - let me summarise - no substance, no character development, just things happening being described by a teenager. However Abnett's Perpetual is a joy, despite very little happening in it and being so short, just a glimmer of good writing makes listening to the cringe of the rest of the 'stories' almost worthwhile. How is it GW can't seem to tell the difference between a real writer/storyteller (Abnett) and these talentless rule of cool boring writers?

Saved by Dan Abnett

The longer stories are quite good but there’s a lot of filler and repeats from the other anthologies

Not bad

One of the better short story collections. Essential listening for space wolves fans as it goes Russ' backstory and motivations. Nice finisher from Abnett too.

Worth the time

doesn't add much to the setting, many of the stories don't develop any plot lines and so I'd say this collection is skippable if you want

Good compilation
