in this crazy world, how comforting it is to listen to a Miss Read. Gwen Watford is without doubt, my favourite narrator for these books.

I have listened to these stories many times in the lead up to Christmas. They take me back in time to more simple days. Lovely.

A prefect escape from troubled times. Everybody is good and kind. The narration was prefect too.

A story from a gentler time

I was introduced to the Miss Read books about 15 years ago when going through a testing time. It’s no exaggeration to say they helped me through some testing days. Knowing I had one of the wonderful books to curl up in bed later made the days that bit easier to take on. What a delight to find this one on Audible , it’s the perfect seasonal listen and so beautifully read. I listened during the day and then dig out my copy to read again in the evening. Can’t recommend enough, they are a gentle and evocative reminder of simpler times long past now but still accessible to us via the spoken and written word.

Superb. It's like eating buttered crumpets and drinking steaming tea by an open fire. I have re listened dozens of times, timeless and utterly charming. Immeasurably comforting like a thick feather duvet in Winter.

But not very Christian of Lovell to not offer fuel money for the
long journey to and from Norfolk!

LOVED it!
