About this listen
James Colosimo, who prefers to be known as “Diamond Jim”, is one of Atlanta’s most prominent criminal defense attorneys. After successfully defending a high-profile case in Savannah, he is now back in that beautiful city for another trial. This time, as a defendant, accused - along with two other members of his law firm - of influencing witnesses and conspiracy.
Prosecuting the case is the same young assistant DA he opposed the last time he was in Savannah, Scott Marino, whose primary witness is facing serious charges of his own. “Diamond Jim” requests that he be allowed to act as his own counsel, which the trial judge approves.
But when his codefendants demand the trial judge allow “Diamond Jim” to defend them also, claiming their right under the constitution to “counsel of their choice”, the judge has a difficult decision to make, which will affect the defense, but even more so the prosecution.

Once again, Bob Johnson reads at a gentle speed, fitting his narration to the pace of the story. He is calm, almost soothing, as he negotiates the problems and crises which occur. He helps bring each of the characters to life with slight, but individual, voicings. His rhythm helps carry the reader forwatd. Another fine performance.
This is a completely stand alone story but is enhanced if the predecessors, Savannah Law, the Indictments, and Two Witness Rule, have been read as a fuller acquaintance with the characters does provide a deeper understanding of their personal motivations. My deep thanks to the rights holder who, at my request, gifted me a complimentary copy of the Colosimo Trial, via Audiobook Boom. I very much enjoy these books, the characters, and the peek into the small community in which they live. Will there be another? I don't know but I hope so. Definitely recommended for all who enjoy legal thrillers.
