About this listen
Hello. Two things you should know about me: 1) My name is Karen Carpenter. 2) Just before Christmas my boyfriend left me. I’m not THE Karen Carpenter. I just have the most embarrassing name in Christendom. Oh yeah. The boyfriend. After 11 ‘happy’ years he left me. No explanation, just a post it on the kettle. I think I’m handling it really well. I don’t think I’m confused at all. What was my name again?

Beautiful Written. Beautifully Read
This was the last of Harvey's back catalogue for me to listen to and I was once again so sad that it had to end. I'd become so involved and engaged with the main character I actually cried when it finished.
It built nicely and although I knew where the story was headed, it didn't detract from the experience and the humour was present as always with Jonathan Harvey's books.
I absolutely LOVE this author and cannot wait for him to write me some more stories.

Truly awful narration!!
I've already read and enjoyed this book, but after listening to the audiobook of Jonathan Harvey's other book 'All she wants' on Audible, I had to hear more. All she wants really came to life with its hysterical narration, and I expected the same here. How disappointed I was! The narration on this is completely flat. Phoned in. I couldn't be past the 3rd chapter before giving up. Such a shame/waste. Do yourself a favour and just read the book and use your credit on something else.

Truly dreadful.....
This is the first time I have given up on a book. I loved Jonathan Harvey's other books and rated them highly. Sadly this book beat me after 2 chapters. The narrator was dreadful, monotone, and no attempt to add any characterisation. It was so flat, it was like a schoolgirl reading a story she had written for English homework. With all the talented women who could have brought this story to life this particular narrator was picked!
