I found this to be such a great listen. The audiobook helped me tremendously to understand a complex disease such as dementia. The author goes in depth about the types of dementia, early symptoms and signs, as well as a plan to action on how to cope with the situation when caring for a loved one. This is a must listen, even if u currently aren’t in the situation of dealing with this issue, as the knowledge alone would help you be more prepared for what life can throw at you and have the tools necessary to handle such a difficult health and life situation. Recommend!

This audiobook is a wonderful resource for anybody who is familiar with dementia or who is providing care for someone with the condition. The fact that the author conducted so much research to fully explain the various types of dementia, their symptoms, multiple viewpoints on the subject, and treatments demonstrates the overall dedication to educating and helping those who know, are, or will take care of someone who has dementia, even to the point of providing additional resources. This is a topic that not many people want to talk about. I highly recommend it.

As a psychotherapist, I have read a number of books and other materials on dementia over the years. I also have a personal perspective of the illness as we lost my mother to Alzheimer's in 1990. This guide would have been indispensible as I and my family cared for my mother. The Dementia Caregiver's Survival Guide is one of the most comprehensive and factual books on the topic. There is a wealth of information on the types of dementia, the stages of the disease, available treatments, and the need for self-care, among other topics. The book looks at the illness from the perspective of the loved one as well as the caregiver. The tone of the book is one of tenderness and caring while navigating a very difficult topic. The author also provides information on a private group for caregivers, available through her program. I wish I could give this audiobook more than 5 stars. I highly recommend this to anyone going through the dementia journey with their loved one.

Can't recommend this book enough. The author's tone is incredibly understanding, and the book is full of extremely helpful advice. Most of the stuff I wouldn't have thought of on my own. You can tell that the author has the experience and knowledge to really help people care for dementia patients. My favorite section was on emotional support; it is so often looked over.

It seems as if everyone I know is or has dealt with a family member with dementia. I watched my mother and grandmother suffer for years with this debilitating illness, both having very similar symptoms. The toll it took on me and my family was heavy and burdensome. How to help, what to do and not do, guilt, doctor appointments, moving them from their home to a facility, and the list goes on. I'm so thankful for this author's insight and wisdom, and although my mother and grandmother have passed on, I will recommend it to everyone I know who could use some help. I hope I don't get dementia, but genetics is a pretty good indicator that I will, and I'll pass this on to my family so they have a smoother experience when that time comes. 5 Stars!

A Much Needed Resource! Highly Recommend!
