I have a family member that is not yet diagnosed but suspected dementia and I have found life has become quite difficult and frustrating. With this book I was looking for what I can do as a care giver to help my loved one as well as help myself to be less frustrated and to make sure I am taking care of me so that I can be there for my loved one. The book gave me everything I was looking for. Thr author gives plenty of useful information that I can immediately begin to implement. I appreciated the chapters on self care for myself as I have been letting that slip and that’s likely where my frustration is coming in. I also learned I need to ask for help and to not be afraid to even bring in professionals to sometimes relieve me of my duties. Very helpful book that I would recommend to anyone dealing with this awful disease.

I found this audiobook while looking for something to help my dear friend who’s been taking care of her mom with dementia. She’s been doing her best, but I could see the stress wearing on her both physically and emotionally. This guide felt like exactly what she needed: clear, compassionate, and packed with truly useful advice. From daily routines to legal prep and emotional burnout, it covers everything that caregivers quietly struggle with but rarely talk about.

I sent this to my friend, and she told me it was the first time she felt seen and supported in this role. She especially appreciated the checklists and how it broke things down into manageable steps. I can already see her feeling more in control and less alone. If you know someone walking this hard road, or if you’re on it yourself, this audiobook is a gift. It offers more than just tips. It offers peace of mind.

It is never easy to understand that your parents are getting older and that the roles have become reversed. Now you are the caregiver. The audiobook covered a sensitive subject in a very empathetic way. There was an important chapter on how to keep lines of communication strong with both family and friends. It raised the need to create a family care plan for ensuring that your loved one's needs are being met each day. The audiobook also came with a PDF version of the text. This is always useful if you want to refer back to a particular part of the guide.

This audiobook is incredibly helpful for anyone taking care of a loved one who has dementia. Bradley provides clear, useful advice on handling everyday responsibilities and understanding the course of dementia. It is especially beneficial to place attention on the emotional and physical health of the caregiver, as this offers much-needed support and encouragement. The self-care advice is quite helpful in reminding caregivers to take care of their own health. This audiobook is an extensive, caring resource that I highly recommend.

The author knows dementia and shares their personal experiences with those of us trying to navigate through the abyss. When my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer, my brother and I took care of her until she passed. We tried to figure it out as we went along, but we didn’t know what to do, where to start or who to turn to when things went sideways. This guide would have been the perfect place to start. More than a simply explaining what’s happening, the author helps prepare the listener for what to expect and how to prepare both mentally and physically. From daily care routines and checklists to and handling behavioral issues and self-care for the caregiver, this audiobook gives you pretty much everything you need to care for a loved one with dementia. I highly recommend it. PS It comes with a free pdf of the print version of the book to reference. Very handy.
