The Devil's Deal by Lilian Harris is a dark friend to enemies to lovers romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Gideon Frost and Lessa Lamb. This is the first book in the Cavaleri Brothers series.

I absolutely love Lilian's books! Lilian does an amazing job making you feel all the emotions that Chiara and Dominic are feeling. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster that I never wanted to get off. Their story is messy, but you can't help but root for them.

The book ends on a cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series The Devil's Pawn to be released on audio so I can get Raquel and Dante's story.

I originally read the book when it was first released and was so excited when it was announced that it was coming to audio, and I was not disappointed. Gideon and Lessa did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend this book if you like dark romances, friends to enemies to lovers romance, captive romance, or romantic suspense.

So my first Lilian Harris book has made me a huge fan! This book has all the qualities I love to listen to. It's mafia, it's romantic suspense, it's second chance love, it's childhood friends, it has betrayal, revenge, passion, love, fear, tragedy, all the things that make my heart pound and fill with love. We meet Dom and Chiara. Both from different families and best of friends. That is until the day tragedy strikes their families, and they are ripped apart. But do they know why? Now years later, Dom has kidnapped his fair maiden, but she does not know it is him, does not know why and when she finds out, will she be able to deal with the truth? This is fast paced, fun banter, exciting suspense and passion that had me falling in love. It's the best kind of listen! I can't wait for Dante's story next!

And to make this listen even better is the narration team of Lessa Lamb and Gideon Frost. Lamb is always a pleasure to listen to. She understands each character she portrays and pours all the elements of her personality into it. Chiara is feisty and strong, yet vulnerable, each facet portrayed to perfection. This is my first time hearing Frost as the alpha protective hero and I loved him! He pulls out all the stops as the guardian, keeping Chiara safe and giving his heart. He owns the role! This was a fantastic storytelling!

Chiara and Dominic were once close friend, but fate separates them. Dom is hard, ruthless but can be loving. Chiara is a strong character.

Dominic is set for seek revenge, Problem is his feelings to towards the woman who was from his past. Chiara.

Chiara and Dominic's story was a rollercoaster of emotions. It hooked me from the beginning and although there were a couple places I had to push through, overall I found this to be a captivating and entertaining listen. Childhood best friends who are separated because life dealt some unfair tragic events that keeps them separated for years. SO much push and pull between the characters and they re-enter each other lives, secrets are unfolded, and twists and turns that will keep you intrigued.

Narrators - Gideon Frost and Leesa Lamb were great bringing the characters to life and capturing the emotions of the story.

I absolutely loved, loved, loved this book! It captured me from the beginning, ripping out my heart, kept me needing more and never wanting it to end. The story of Chiara and Dominic will completely blow you away! The story was amazing, keeping me on my toes and Chiara and Dominic together, holy smokes! The push and pull between them and the anticipation will burn you. I could not get enough of these two and every scene with them together will heat up your room. Those scenes are some of my favourite ones I've ever read in a book! I can easily say this is one of my top listens of this year, and Dominic is one of my top book boyfriends ever! He gave everything and I took willingly. The agony you feel for him is intense and his words will bring you to your knees. I cannot wait for more of this world and Dominic's brothers' books! The narrators brought these characters to life and Gideon was just perfect Dominic! Amazing work!

This was definitely a hit for me. A new author, paired with some excellent narrators and a dark romance trope and I was all in. This book also had best friends to enemies to lovers tropes going on and I loved that as well. I really enjoyed the way this story unfolded. The only thing that took me away from a full five-star love of this book was that I kind of wish the issue that introduced the conflict between them had been a little more complex. Or maybe it was more so that I completely understood Chiara’s frustration, and disappointment with Dom for being so quick to believe the lies. I understood that was a truly horrific day for him. And I couldn’t even begin to predict how I would react with all that going on. But it didn’t change the fact for me that Chiara deserved more faith from him. I can’t deny that a part of me felt that it should have been much harder for him to believe. But the events of that life changing day, and his sincere regret later on are why in the end, I still found myself to be quite satisfied with the ending and was still rooting for them. Overall, I would still absolutely recommend this story to other dark romance lovers. And I will most definitely dive into the next book in the series, without hesitation, because the writing, and overall storytelling were really good and well worth listening to another story from this author.

Amazing, just amazing. I loved this audiobook. Lessa and Gideon have brought these characters alive perfectly. With so much trauma so young this is a book of survival and revenge. Fantastic.

Chiara & Dominic are best friends after meeting at school.
Her father is feared by everyone so making friends is hard, keeping them even harder.
As she gets older her father's cruelty become worse.
Dominic's family is the opposite kind and caring welcoming Chiara and her mum at the bakery when they visit.
The death of Dominic's mum in a car crash means the family pull together more if possible.
When Dominic's father and brother Matteo are late home from the bakery one day he goes to find them, but what he see's makes him call his brothers to pack their bags.
Years later he's about to put his long awaited plan into action, keeping his real identity secret he's unsure what to believe, have they both been deceived?.
I truly loved the book and listening to the audio by fantastic narrators was a brilliant way to enjoy it again.
I definitely recommend listening and reading this book.

I thought this was a standalone but that cliffhanger gutted me . Just when Chiara and Dom start their new life together things happen that might tear them apart yet again.
