Summary

A mother’s greatest wish—or darkest nightmare—comes true in this chilling classic audiobook thriller from the Master of Suspense, Dean Koontz.

“Koontz puts his readers through the emotional wringer.”–The Associated Press

In the year since her son Danny’s tragic death, Tina Evans has suffered incredible heartache. But now, with her Vegas show about to premiere, Tina might be ready to put her grief behind her and start over.

Until a shocking message appears on the chalkboard in Danny's room: NOT DEAD. Those two words send her on a terrifying journey from the bright lights of Las Vegas to the cold shadows of the High Sierras, where she uncovers a terrible secret.

Disappointing

I have heard other Dean Koontz audio books & enjoyed them, so I was pleased to see this as a daily deal & got it. This is one of Koontz’s earlier works and it shows. The main characters are shallow and oh-so-nice and the plot is much more straightforward, predictable even, than his later, more accomplished works. It’s not well balanced it has a long start with the establishment of characters, a shorter middle and a really short end & it just kind of stops. I really didn’t like the narrator for this book. She reads like a mother reading a bedtime story which just did not suit the type of story at all, although I bet she would be great at children’s books. She did a decent job with the voices (although there were only 2 main characters & the narrative voice), but the delivery was inappropriate.

Enjoyable

Although this book has some bad reviews I enjoyed it. The narration is good . Some of the plot is relevant to the present situation in the world today

Good story.

Good, although the ending was a bit sudden. Very topical in the end considering the current situation ( April 2020 ).

It started well...

Thought I was going to love it at first but it went downhill for me I’m afraid, got a bit far fetched and the psychic twist rather unbelievable. Sorry!

Slow start but very good

Originally downloaded this as I heard it predicted the corona virus 30 years prior... which isn’t the case.
The book is entertaining though and a good read.

Story of today

A somewhat terrifying look at 3world today and what countries will stoop to regardless of life and what happens when it all goes wrong. well written as we come to expect from Mr Koontz and well narrated.
